Wheels through Time Museum
Spent the day there yesterday with Mrs Choc..An amazing place. Every bike runs and is maintained....you can touch all you want and they’ll start up almost anything you want to hear run. Dales son was there and mingled with the visitors with amazing knowledge and enthusiasm. If you love motorcycles...visit Maggie Valley, NC. You won’t regret it.

Dale, the owner has done some cool TV shows about the museum and chasing down other vintage bikes. One episode about racing the older bikes. Another about trying to start each bike in the place in one day.
The area, Maggie Valley keeps coming up in conversation lately. I think I'm going to have to go check it out soon. Funny you mention the Barber collection Peter, Im thinking of going that way tomorrow for evacucation from Hurricane Michael Cheers Richard Last edited by tevake; 10-09-2018 at 02:13 AM.. |

Have visited several times. World-class place. Dale even signed some garage-art for me one time when I was there on Father’s Day.

Yes, have been to Barber many times. Yes, much more modern/European/Japanese. That’s why you need to see both. What I liked about WTT was no velvet ropes keeping you from getting up close. Google the Traub motorcycle. They claim it’s the rarest bike in the world hidden in a wall from 1916 until discovered in 1967.
Sorry...wish I’d taken more pics. Tried to get a pic of their actual resto shop but it was pretty dark. ![]() ![]()

Here’s an interesting piece on the worlds rarest motorcycle, the Traub. And like an idiot, I didnt take a picture...but there’s and embedded video of Dale actually starting it up.

Seen dales shows many times I think it's called what's in the barn or something similiar. Good show also seen him on a couple other shows, I wonder where dale got all his funds??? Seen him pay 6 figures for certain vehicles, seems like a regular guy doesn't look or act like a millionaire.

You never know whats real on 'reality' tv but I really liked his enthusiasm and he seems like a cool guy on the show. The museum looks pretty amazing, really need to figure out how to get there. I was only at barber once maybe ~10 yrs ago. Loved it. I really wasnt sure what it was when I went, could have spent all day there. Worth the trip if you are ever close. |

Highly recommend this place if you're in the area. I was in the area a few days ago and didn't even realize it until by luck I saw the sign, made a quick u turn. All the interesting bikes are right where you can get up close to them. The staff is very friendly and will tell stories about the bikes for as much time as you have. A few highlights, the Crocker is north of a million.
