Who has this two wheeler! Honda Trail.
 

I’m kinda shopping for a travel van. I thought dragging this along would be fun and useful. Thinking one of those hitch mounted racks.

Commuting to work would be interesting. I was told it gets 80mpg.

I had a vintage version very briefly as a youth. Sold it.
Thoughts?

Prices on vintage little bikes is nuts!
I had a fat wheeled mini bike that my dad got for me for like $50.00. Now I see them for a grand.
Can't go wrong with a Honda though.

I always wanted to get a Monkey, but I have zero use for it. Website claims 162MPG!!

Mini Trails, Trail 70's and Trail 90's are priced like old VW busses these days. Everyone wants to relive their youth.

The new 125 trail with disc brakes and electric start would be a no-brainer, if I was going to use it like the OP.


A Grom or a Monkey would be a blast if I were looking for a way to have fun just dinkin' around.

I would much rather have the Grom or KP Mini type. As a kid in the 70's I hated the look of those "step thru" Honda Trail 90's.

Funny you say that , we had a neighbor that had a Honda step thru . The kid was 14-15 years old but tall . He looked like a preying mantis riding that thing :D . I never liked that bike .

i rode my friends Grom. fun but my time on one is limited. there is nothing comfortable about it. figured park the van, set up camp, hop on t-125 (i'll develope a nickname later), and head out to town to pick up a slice of pizza...

my friend can wheelie his Grom almost forever...again..

Hitch rack? I have an "Ultimate MX Hauler." It is pretty great.

The Honda 90 - check out C90 Adventures on YouTube. Hilarious. Made me want one. His first video was riding across Mongolia over to England. Wow.

Keep us posted. I have similar thoughts.

Like others here, had one (125) as a teenager. Don't try to drag a knee in a corner. Other than that, it worked well for what it was.

edit: might have been a 90...can't be certain.

I have a 66 ct90 that I will be rehabbing. Then onto the back of the landcruiser…

My uncle wouldn't give up his Trail 90 that he's had since the 70s ... a perfect "deep woods", hunter's trail bike... low/high tranny select... his new one sits ... unloved :D

The 'producers' always provided a crappy back up car incase one of the 'legendary 3' broke theit vehicle and werent able to keep it going.

My dad was way ahead on this strategy in 1984. We had a Honda Trail 90 (just like the one pictured) in the family. It was available to my brother and I if we broke our XR100s or were waiting on parts.

We spent our childhoods on our dirtbikes (much like my son does now).

That trail 90 is a total POS. It weighs 900 lbs, is slow, has low and high range with 4 speeds in each, it's gutless, the riding position is comfortable for the road... maybe but not appropriate for high speed singletrack.

Eventually dad sold te 90 to a long time friend of mine. We were riding on the beach one time and we all whisled through the deep mud with ease. When my friend it the same spot on the 90, he sunk. SUNK. SUNK deep. We were all laughing too hard to help extract him. When the belly laughs subsided, it took 4 of us probably 15 mnutes to extract the 90 from the quagmire.

So to recap... heavy, terrible rider ergonomics, slow, dorky looking, heavy, poor suspension, weird handlebars, heavy.

Dad rarely rode with us kids and I think it was becasue he didnt want to ride the Trail 90 either.

What do a Trail 90 and a fat girl have in common?
