We need pics of these cool old boxes

I just saw this on FB. Pretty cool!

Socket set I inherited from my Dad. Pretty cool, the sockets nest inside each other and store in the handle. Fairly strong considering that the handle is made from celanese plastic. Made in Jenkintown, PA.

Nice! Happy Birthday to Jack! I know that I feel like I know him a bit due to your posts over the years.

The new Mods have told me one important thing: Post another pic of Dottie or Jack and it is two weeks in the cooler.:D

His wedding is next month...a ban-o-rama!

Yeah, I keep hoping that I'll stumble across one for $20 instead of $275.

It arrived yesterday (the hammer). My wife was floored on how cool the thing is: That is Jack!

His wedding is in a few weeks and he'll get it then, slightly used:cool:

Already wrapped!

As an aside, he had his BP camp out last weekend...he gave all the guys in his wedding axes.

So there you go...thanks, Vash!

A couple of items that I've acquired.

Chaplin patent change
http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1768315014.jpg
http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1768315014.jpg

HD Smith winged perfect handle screwdriver (I've got a no 5 and a no 4)
http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1768315014.jpg
http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1768315014.jpg

A complete, original North Brothers Yankee 1555 breast drill. It's got 2 speeds and 5 modes that seem like magic.
http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1768315014.jpg
http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1768315014.jpg

I also have an old Millers Falls No 97 which is very similar to the Yankee 1555 above
http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1768315901.jpg

This is what the various modes do.

Yankee modes
Plain – direct drive turn the crank in a direction to turn the spindle in that direction
Left hand ratchet - the crank ratchet in one direction to turn the spindle left
Right hand ratchet - the crank ratchet in one direction to turn the spindle right
Double right ratchet– the crank ratchet in either/both directions to turn the spindle to the right
Lock – locks the crank and spindle

MF modes
Plain – direct drive turn the crank in a direction to turn the spindle in that direction
Left hand ratchet - the crank ratchets in one direction to turn the spindle left
Right hand ratchet - the crank ratchet in one direction to turn the spindle right
Double right ratchet– the crank ratchet in either/both directions to turn the spindle to the right
Double left ratchet– the crank ratchet in either/both directions to turn the spindle to the left.

I want one of these other HD Smith screwdrivers with what I call a "pinch grip". I'll be keeping my eye out in case I run across one that's reasonably priced.

That sentence can be read 2 ways. I got a chuckle. That's how a dyslexic mind works. Reads it the awkward way first.

I'll give you a preview of this week's project. It's a recreation of a pre WWII tool cabinet using as much lumber as I can find that is at least 50 years old. Some I know is closer to 80 years old. It's pine darkened by years and years of being inside a 1930's garage.

http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1768349951.JPG

The tools are all janky because I haven't hung the door yet, it's just propped up there. It's easier to layout and mount the tools while the doors are laying on the workbench. I'm about half way done mounting tools in the back of the box. It will have 2 more wing doors that swing out after the front doors are open.

The Freud chisels won't be in there as they are too modern. .

Good stuff! When you're done or as you progress, take more pics and either post them here or in the woodworking thread.

Hey Masraum, that plane could use a clean and sharpen. Then, you would have some pron.
