Don't worry, I couldn't be so cruel.

I saw JB when he was 13 ... (Derek Trucks was 11 and played first) when the Jax Landing opened ... (and Derek (and Susan) also on a couple of "Blues Cruises") and many other club gigs over the decades... loved those blues and jam band cruises too!

Hoot :)

Wow - very cool! Yes, I am a fan. I'm in.......sending PM.......

Saw Joe at Red Rock two years ago . Great show! Great venue!

Gogar 08-20-2025 07:16 AM

CONGRATS to Baz and congrats to me for getting some stuff out of the house.

Next up who wants a brand new early 2000s era LOLLAPALOOZA embroidered twin sheet set? Unused of course

¡Muy interesante!

Embroidered sheet set, that seems like the weirdest merch for a music festival.

You hang out with Tye-Dye Paul ... next time around he's got "an inspired" stage backdrop ... unique and just for your girl :).

Except her's were 2 hippie chick dresses... Paul specials... we crossed paths a bit.

Works of art :)

It was in the band goodie bag, it wasn't a merch item

Joe is a marketing genius. He gets no airplay, has no hit songs, no album sales, but he charges top dollar for concert tix and sells out everywhere. And then there's the merch. I have a buddy who spent $2k for him his and his wife to go to the show and then bought an autographed guitar after the show. Not knocking Joe at all. I've chatted with him and he was very cool. Killer player too. And good on him for making a bundle of money.

I was thinking there is a class of musicians who are brilliant, talented and have moments of musicality that rival anything ever recorded...but seem to fail to have an ear for putting together a full song of goodness. Usually revered by musicians who recognize the raw talent but somehow never make the bigs.

As an outsider who just enjoys great songs it can be incredibly frustrating to hear clips from folks like this and then go searching out albums only to find disappointment. It feels like if they could just have found the right producer or bandmates what could have been.......Anyways a bit OT and i really just came back to root for Baz- glad to see he got the nod here and is a true fan!

javadog 08-21-2025 06:43 AM

Buy a copy of his Three Kings performance at Red Rocks. Best arrangement and performance of Going Down, ever, by a mile. Super talented band, great performance from all of them. Reese Wynans knocked his part in that song out of the park.

I'm a bigger fan of his covers than his original songs.

Super talented guy, very interesting to listen to him talk about music and guitars. His guitar and amp collection is massive. He uses them appropriately, too.

Yep... he was a prodigy, chanelling SRV and made my jaw drop decades ago, but his music and playing just doesn't do 'IT' for me... never has. But he is an awesome talent, the real deal, and knows how to cash in ... his way.

Good for him :)

Thanks, BF. And in the FWIW category.....I posted a live performance by Jeremy's band in the music thread last Saturday. Because I DO enjoy his band's music! Karma? ;)

He's got some tunes where he's playing with Hiatt, and some covers of Hiatt's songs that are terrific.

I'm not actually familiar with JB's stuff ... the EC gig and a couple of others. Saw an interview a year or so ago ... he has it all covered as Rick and JR said ...

But I'll take Sonny Landreth instead .... I have been on a Goners binge lately :D

I'll look for the JB/JH stuff... thanks!

Baz 08-27-2025 11:43 AM

Arrived on Monday along with cool travel mug. This thing is enormous and VERY cool!

Thanks, Jeremy! SmileWavy

For those that like the Blues and are on the road, consider listening to KKJZ on the internet.
2pm PST .
Having this to look forward to on the weekends made road life bearable for me.

That surfin' banner has found the perfect place to hang out at Baz :)

Here's one with Joe in the background. Holding back, pretty nice and a good cover

Killer though I'd prefer less stylized vocals. Really fantastic jazz vibe and the subdued band makes it all the better. Not muddy, just subdued.

ramonesfreak 09-02-2025 05:40 AM

When this came out last week it was in my feed and i watched it right away. i usually prefer Joe's interviews to be honest. I love the guy and have a bunch of his concert DVDs and do checkout his live and studio stuff but I never get excited about any of it until this tune that came out last week.

This tune hooked me and ive probably watched it 20 or 30 times over the weekend....love that little unexpected prog rock bridge after the guitar solo. very cool

I really like how Joe welcomes having a guy as good as Josh Smith in his band. Thats a good move on his part.

I had no idea…

It's not so much a testament to the music (which is quite good) but a more about his reach and persistence and relentless marketing and merchandising skill. Please see Baz's fancy new surf blanket for a great example!

Found another Scary Pockets cover with Joe. Nice restrained guitar, plus I am liking these jazz/funk covers.
