I would say that if you generalize over half the people of this country as being part of a “facist cult”, that’s a difficult starting point for rational conversation.

I don't Matt. Please don't assume too much. The vast majority of the half is not part of the cult.

I'm not against tattoos. I have one. What I'm against is the plethora of unimaginative and bad tattoos. If you're going to spend all that money on a tattoo, make it a good one.

(Not my tattoo)

Totally agree.

My friend Ron is one of the most respected trauma surgeons around. He has both arms sleeved. One of my daughters best friends, a beautiful girl, has a lot of ink on her, but all tastefully done, ( and each piece has a significant meaning...) to me, they don't take away from her beauty one bit.

I have a ton of friends with fire service tats. Some are very well done. Plenty of others I'm like wtf were you thinking?? Lol. But hey, if you like it, that,s all that matters. Good friend of mine has fire service tats on his neck. Not something I would do, but he's also Deputy Chief of one of the biggest city depts in the state. His ink didnt stop them from appointing him to that position.

Regardless of your political opinion. Please go back and reflect as to whether a snap judgement of someone based on a piece of clothing is a valid indicator of the heart (goodness) of a person. There are people with political or religous viewpoints other than mine. I consider them to be sincere with having good motives and good hearts) but believe them to be sincerely incorrect.

We can disagree without assigning judgement of the other person being "evil". It seems that some people are saying that snap judgements are bad when its tats or piercings but acceptable if an affiliation doesn't meet with that person's own viewpoint. Is that not two faced?

You can remove a tongue stud or pretty much any bar or ring or even surface piercing. But if it's just something embedded under the skin that's ferous, then you aren't going to be able to get an MRI without having those items surgically removed. Are they usually steel balls or are they something else, silicone or something?

LOL! I'm sure she was hoping they would be like a sparkly dimple or something. I suspect they weren't a full piercing, but maybe a surface piercing where they poke the needle through the epidermis and then spin it around, and then poke something like the piercing version of a butt plug through the small hole. At least, that's my understanding of how those work, like girls get on the dimples at their sacrum or on their cheeks where dimples would be.

The boomer energy is strong in this thread. Like Dixie said above, I don't mind tattoos, but the random junk collections kids have on their arms is not attractive IMHO. My kid being one of them. My boss is an executive director, large financial institution. Full arm sleeve tattoos. Its common these days. My kid also has a nose piercing, which did not seem to inhibit her ability to land a job in health care right out of college. I think it is utterly stupid, but its her nose. (a rather sizable nose...that she inherited from me....so why would you want to attract attention to it?

Agreed, but there's some clever ones out there too, like the one Dixie posted, or these two...

I have an abbreviated 3P system based on the "10 Point Must System" from boxing: my Three Point Must System for profiling (and we all profile other humans, folks, get over it. If you think you don't profile, best of luck):

- Eyes.
- Diction
- Funny

All I need.

Piercings, tats, dress, ethnicity, I could care less...too a point.

I do Taco Bell once a week, same time, same Bat Channel...the young black lady at the window, who lights it up, has more tats than all the sailors on my first ship and more piercings than a a jewelry store before prom: I would hire her tomorrow because she is the deal.

See above.

I never asked what they are made of. Kinda like the four that this guy has on his forehead.

I took this photo of Mom with her housekeeper who came every 2 weeks to clean Mom's house.

Mom had just turned 100 the month earlier. Old school and greatest generation.

WWII Navy veteran and the best person I've ever known.

You can bet that behind the scenes she had a few tongue-in-cheek comments - nothing nasty or mean - just humorous if anything - but always remained kind, generous, and polite to all she met.

As did her housekeeper. Who was a friend to Mom, myself, and the family. Although the family didn't deserve it. And good at what she did and as dependable as the sun coming up in the morning.

She was the daughter Mom never had!

I think once things get to some of the extremes, it's likely mental health stuff. Extreme dysphoria of some sort.
