The Italian Job reminded me of Le Casse aka The Burglars (1971) with Omar Sharif. It has a epic car chase in Greece between a Fiat 124 and an Opel Rekord. The cars get super thrashed in this.

King of the Mountain, Harry Hamlin.
I saw this movie way, way back on TV, so probably 1983-84-ish. It made an impression on me, and was the reason that I read the entire "Mulholland Drive" thread on this board when I found it (several hundred pages worth). Probably too easy
