"78 Lincoln Mark V"

My dad bought one! He just had to get that 460 ci motor (last year it was offered) for autocrosses, etc.!

It was his first non-Mercury purchase too! Pa-Paw drove Fords exclusively (as did G-grandfather)....

I knew dad was losing it when he bought my CJ5 from me in college .... and then my niece's first gen Prius decades later confirmed it :D.

That's striking, and an obvious design predecessor to the Camargue. Headlamp/fender treatment is a bit awkward.

"Striking" is one way to put it.

Anyone remember the TV show Cannon ? He drove a Mark III/IV if I remember correctly .

jyl 09-16-2025 03:11 AM

For a summer, I drove a 1973 Ford Thunderbird. Loved it. I’ve never had a better cruiser.

CurtEgerer 09-16-2025 04:29 AM

The beauty of the Mark V series was the designer editions :D The Bill Blass, the Givenchy, the Cartier, the Pucci ..... it's just tough to beat a powder blue velour interior.

That’s ghastly. I have never seen that before and I thought I knew a lot about Mercedes-Benz products from that era.

Dixie 09-16-2025 08:41 AM

Look what I found. As if a Mark IV isn't 70's enough! And stetching it ruined the lines, ugh!

That’s three or four bad ideas pasted onto one car. One committee designed the forward third, one designed the middle third, another designed the rear third, and yet a fourth group designed the greenhouse area.

I find it hideous.

That may be the worst looking car they ever designed.

Steve Carlton 09-16-2025 01:25 PM

Looks dorky awkward to me.
