A bummer story and a reminder and a Mecum auction.
Hello
My buddy and personal Mechanic Jeff passed from a heart attack a few months ago. Unfortunate and sad story, to be sure, but things happen. He was a great guy and I learned a lot of basics from him. He grudgingly kept my X5 on the road. He always gave me a rig to ride or drive home. Gave me a nice Harbor Freight Air Compressor I use all the time. I gave him my stove and microwave when I upgraded. Great guy! Anyway behind him he left about 35 motorcycles, mostly vintage British and a nice Variety of K and R bikes, and a few odds and ends. Almost all running, about 10-12 dry-stored in his basement. Also Skidloader Bulldozer 2 or 3 snowmobiles Vintage Snow Cat 1971 Camaro 1972 914 A self-built mountain Cabin A huge gun safe with no key and no combination Two enormous pro toolboxes full of the good stuff and an estranged daughter with whom he had no relationship. One thing he did not leave behind was a will. So at least he left some important silent advice. So there was a bit of a familial feeding frenzy and everything is gone now. I did see the 914 sell quickly for $1K on craigslist. Not my business but there was a bit of an awkward vulture-vibe about the whole thing. Anyway, looks like they took all the bikes that were full of fluids and running and sent them to the Mecum. A lot of the older British thumper stuff were dry-stored inside the house and I don't see them here. Anyway I've ridden most of these K and R bikes and all the Hinckley Triumphs and they were very well maintained. The Super 3 is nice as well but the wheels have been chromed and it is missing the CF exhaust. If you don't have a will get after it. Good wake-up call for me. what a mess. Condlolences to you for the lost of your friend. That is never an easy time. From our family to yours, best wishes and prayers.
You are 100% correct about wills and having your "affairs in order". I don't follow Mecum, so have nothing to offer there.... Cheers

Todd, laws vary from state to state, but let this be a good lesson for those without final plans...see a good contract lawer, and set up a trust or have a will...a good attny. will explain the pros and cons of both.
