I guess that this afternoon it will work again.

I got the database error just as soon as I logged on this morning. So then I went to my other morning read: garage journal. It has just as many members, but doesn’t seem to have the same technical problems. I find myself spending more time there and less time here.

I haven't been able to log in on my iPad for months. I have to use my computer, but even on the iMac I got a "database error," Sunday AM.

Cloudflare is the spam filter service used, but I've been able to log in without their javascript.
Anthropic supposedly has found vulnerabilities in..and accessed...the most secure networks.

Other AI bots or something must be wrecking havoc with the system.
(I don't recall accessing the Justanswer website before)

I wonder if AI is to blame, a mass army of AI bots finding information to report back on google queries would hamper and damage the site architecture

GJ is one alternative, any others? They don't have a very good OT section because the owner is overly sensitive. If you mention any racial statement, good or bad, you're gone forever. He eliminated 14 accounts in one day. Don't need a forum like that.

What else? Not going to Reddit. I've been on City Data but they have 50 state's forums and 50 subject forums, but nothing general news. And if you started typing p-o-l-i.... someone would probably be monitoring you.

I used to go to 3 welding forums but frankly welders are a whole 'nother facet of the population. Machinists all talk like engineers and we all know how narrow minded and obscure they can be. Like talking to an astronomer about the latest men's fashions. Not going to fine "most beautiful women" there. If you went to that topic on the 914 forum you might as well open up some old Hustler mags.

I have an old Jeep and the Jeep forums are full of scum. Must be dirt on the brain.

The most polite, mature and gentlemanly forum I go to is old radios. As you would imagine, it's rather small and, but therefore not often attacked by bots. The site developer and maintenance person is online 20 hours a day. Not too broad an interest although I consider it only 2nd to here.

Yeah, I like this place but I think I'm going to delete my bookmark as I have done with all of the mentioned above. Frustration in my life is over the top and I'm shedding all sources. Can't shed the main cause.

Yeah, Milt please don't go. You have good input to the forum, and we need you. Worst case, wait a few days or maybe a week, and the forum will eventually get straightened out.

I use Tapatalk when I am away from my computer, Tapatalk on my cell phone just does not work recently.

Hi guys, I know most of you are frustrated with forum issues in the past two weeks and I'm right there with you. Behind the scenes I'm complaining the most because.... guess who has to deal with getting messages across the other social platforms? Me. An updated vbulletin software is currently in the works with the team for this forum, 986forum, and Peachparts. The process isn't easy and because the software is old, there's a lot of steps involved in migrating over. Not to mention, 20+ years of data. I'll continue to hound them but know that they're working on rolling it out.

It was weird, up until two weeks ago I would log in and might have to log in again if I wanted to reply to a thread. Then I would have to log in again in order to post that reply. Suddenly on the 17th I was logged in permanently. The gate keeper will still check to see if I am legit from time to time, but I remain logged in.
It doesn't make me lose any sleep.
Ps. When I submitted this reply, it checked to ensure I wasn't a bot.

Add me to those who hope you don't leave, Milt. Let's face it, a very broad section of knowledge and experience hangs out here. During those times it goes haywire, I just wait for things to get straightened out...as they seem to be right now.

To my understanding:
Google was originally built upon web-crawlers scraping data and context, then presenting a list of cliffs notes.
(lawsuit elbowing followed)
(still not done when whole books are used to train AI)

That made the internet 'more efficient and widespread', or injected a paid middle-man with bias, depending on your point of view, and became the norm.

Now AI bots are following those same paths.
