NBA gambling ring arrests

This will probably get quite ugly .

Terry Rozier, Chauncey Billups reportedly arrested as part of sports gambling probe: Live updates as FBI announces details - Yahoo Sports https://share.google/8raanNUcLMdQDhZc4

From the press briefing, it involved 4 of the 5 well known mafia families. Sophisticated
shuffling devices and x ray tables to see what the other players cards were. It appears
the NBA players were invited to the games to give them legitimacy and were the marks.
A very high tech operation.

serene911 10-23-2025 09:23 AM

From further info, it does appear that a number of the NBA players were actually
involved in the illegal aspect of it as well.

Any game played by man can be, has been, and will be, rigged. Place yer bets, folks...

Pro athletes of any stripe are notoriously attracted to gambling...these are the ultimate "type-A" people who have god complexes and think that they can control things.

Even the horses and dogs can be rigged. I had an aunt that took care of some guy that was in the business and said that they could trim the dogs nails differently and that would impact the results.

Meanwhile Shoeless Joe and Pete Rose were banned for life from baseball but today Fanduel and other betting sights are major sponsors of professional leagues.

The cart and horse are not where they should be.

Gambling triggers the same reward centers as drugs; emotional highs and lows, the need for the next reward.

While legal, I wish it wasn't: Smoking can give a person cancer, gambling gives the whole family financial cancer.

ESPN, Fox Sport, et al, should be ashamed.

If any of you have seen the detritus left behind an addicted gambler, you get why.

I totally don't understand why College Gameday gives the point spread on football games. And that started pre-NIL.

I agree even though I don' mind that, "Bad Beats", etc...because it is available everywhere: But entire shows dedicated to gambling, directly or under the guise of "fantasy sports" is a box canyon of addiction. I have stopped listening to sports talk radio because gambling chat is so persuasive.

BTW, just because I don't gamble doesn't mean I haven't struggled with other addictions...I just understand addiction and wince. This will not end well.

Yep. As bad as heroin or opioid addiction is, a person cannot put $300k in their arm in one day. :(

If there's a bright side, I live in Portland and today I learned that the Trailblazers have a head coach named Chauncey. Or, HAD a coach named Chauncey.

Truth. Start by banning prop bets and work from there. Prop bets are the crack cocaine of the gambling money machine that preys on folks, particularly our youth.

Gambling $$ and medical/pharma/insurance. The most evil influences in our society at the moment.

berettafan 10-23-2025 07:23 PM

College campuses are awash with gambling addicts today. They are targeted. Probably the same marketing people the credit card companies use.

Absolutely!

The amount of televised gambling ads for any sport (but particularly NHL) is crazy!
I wish they would go the way of the cigarette ads of the past.

I work way to hard for my money to gamble although I do purchase lotto tickets on occasion when the payout is way up.

onewhippedpuppy 10-24-2025 05:52 AM

What a crazy story. Just another example of people that have everything losing it all, because it’s never enough. From what I’ve read it sounds like there was at least an insider trading aspect of providing details on injuries before the public was aware, if not outright players leaving games early to sway the outcome.

911 Rod 10-24-2025 06:53 AM

The betting ads make me shake my head.
They are grooming this generation of young people to think that gambling is a normal part of life.
