What a game. Extra innings game 7 WS, broken bat double play for the win. This is what baseball is all about.

...That said ... I haven't followed, or watched baseball in decades .... meh... Because of PPOT, I watched a few innings in earlier games, and all of this one... I became a baseball fan again last night... both teams were awesome, with spectacular defense... I became a fan of both teams and all the players! Congrats to both.... I could be wrong tho'.... it might have been '73

I just finished watching the game...great to zip through the commercials and happy talk.
Since WS Games are notorious for length (pitching changes, etc.) I added a three hour extension to the DirecTV recording and about the 10th inning wondered if I had enough room! Amazing game. As a baseball guy, that was all any fan could ask for.

The immediate celebration of any championship whether it be the WS, Lombardi or the Cup is one time men are allowed to embrace their inner 12 year old. Just great!

Did anyone else notice that the home plate umpire was giving the dodgers pitchers a bigger strike zone then he gave to the blue jays? Just my observation.

I saw a few eye rolls for sure but either way it was a great game. That catch with fielders coming together was something else. For all the players (both teams) to perform under that pressure in those moments is what sport is all about.

What a GREAT series that turned out to be.
Both teams wanted it so badly they played their best. Amazing defensive plays by BOTH sides. Bugs, I wish the strike zone 'box' was just a tad darker so it would have shown up better, but I don't agree with you. I think the umpiring was fair to both teams. My only question is, what was Ohtani doing during the commercial breaks between innings when he was pitching? I know he wears a lot of protective stuff when he bats, but he takes that off when running the bases and it doesn't take him three minutes to remove it then. I can understand the Jays wanting him out on the mound sooner for his warmup pitches, but hey, give the guy a break. Next year with the electronic 'balls/strikes' calling should be interesting to say the least. Far and away this is the best series I've ever seen in all the years I've watched. Toronto has nothing to be ashamed of as they put up a very good fight.

As the replay showed, Kiki was never going to be able to catch that ball so it was good that Pages did.

I hadn't seen a full series in a number of years. I went to a sports bar/restaurant a few weeks back and got to see Yamamoto pitching in the playoffs... it was awesome, so i decided to watch he series. It was fantastic, I even stayed up late for the recording breaking 18 inning game at Dodgers stadium.
It seemed to me as if the Jay's played better as a team during offense, so the Dodgers win pleasantly surprised me. What a gift to get to watch this series, a break in the monotony that is life.

Can we be far from auto calling the pitches with electronics? I think there will always need to be an ump at the plate for a number of reasons: attempted swings, changing out balls that are scuffed, calling out rules like a balk, and many more. But the ump could do this w/o hovering over the catcher. He could stand back and a little to the side and actually have a better view of a lot of the action. The game camera has become indispensable for determining whether a ball was caught on the fly or hit the field at short stop, etc. We started playing baseball before radios were able to broadcast the games. Yet some of the game remains in the 19th Century. I say it's time to improve the technology and let the umps decide and/or overrule the auto calls, not make the initial calls where this is possible. |

From what I've heard the announcers talk about, the 'auto' system has been in effect in the minors for most if not all of this past season and will be used next season in the majors.
It's kind of like the one used in tennis now at a lot of the major tournaments. I think they said the batter can tap his helmet to get a review of the call. Not sure if the pitcher/catcher is allowed to or not.

I can’t recall a more fun to watch World Series, and I didn’t care about either team. Last night was a fitting and epic ending.

And game 7 topped it all. People will debate the bunt that set up the walk/double play for years.
