2.2 GPM Of Luxury!

My ever vigilant wife identified that our bathroom faucet aerators were starting to get calcium buildup (the horror!) so I ordered a four pack of 2.2 GPM replacements from the big A. Unbeknownst to me apparently the originals were something like 1.5 GPM to save baby seals or something. Holy mother of God these things are awesome! It’s like going from water boarding to a fire hose, your hands get rinsed in about 1/10 of a second. Since I had a four pack purchased for a whopping $8 I changed them all, now we’re living like Jerry Jones!

Seriously these things are awesome, buy some you won’t regret it.

Lucky. They wouldn't ship to CA, the land of stupid politicians that make dumb policies to save baby seals.

If having clean hands like Jerry Jones is the goal .... I'll just wash my hands in mud and die happy :D

You're sheltering (high flow aereators) from the state, are you not?

Bob Kontak 11-07-2025 06:11 AM

I need to get one of those Sprinter vans and drive to California with nothing but high flow aerators, real TSP and 22 line Glasurit.

Bring high performance brake pads, menthol cigarettes too.

I just moved into a house with high flow aerators and I'm not impressed.
When I use the kitchen tap water ends up all over the counter. When I take a drink from the bathroom tap it's mostly air.
Maybe it's just me.

FYI: many modern shower heads and faucet aerators are reduced to rated flow with a little rubber o-ring. If you remove the head and see a little o-ring in there, you can pop out the oring with a little screw driver or dental pick and get higher flow.

Breakin the law, breaking the law

I can say with utmost certainty that MY shower head can beat ANYTHING you guys can come up with.

That's why they still sell ice picks.

When I was traveling a lot I always had a wrench and a pick in my checked baggage specifically for this purpose. Most hotels are okay, but some put more restrictive orifices in for savings and I'm not putting up with that.

You have to learn to control the power!

The one that’s mostly air is probably still a save the earth model, that’s what the aerator does.

Speaking of traveling and plumbing, when I have a checked bag, I put a few small tools in there because invariably the maintenance at the hotel room/Airbnb is lacking and I'll need to fix something. In Italy last year, I almost replaced the shower head but couldn't find a hardware store open and I was only there one night. It was so bad I dreaded the second shower I took.

Just take the shower head off. It's an awesome experience (not taking it off, the shower afterward).

Is that what the kids call it these days!

stevej37 11-07-2025 02:31 PM

Showerheads and aerators can get built up with sediments. When my shower head does, I fill a zip lock sandwich bag with vinegar and close it around the shower head for a few hours. No need to remove the head.
Works great again and is usually good for another 3 or 4 years.
