Most likely sitting on my ass doing whatever 4 year-olds do indoors.

...on the way to the dentist for a before-school appointment, my dad had the radio turned up and everyone at the dentist office was in shock.

I was 8 years old, but I remember it like it was yesterday due to the strong reactions of the adults around me. Their reactions actually scared me....

^^^ Same here. As I said in the op, the lady that tore up with her car had a look on her face that I'll never forget. It was a look of horror.

Mid-morning, 10th grade history class. I seem to remember we were all sent home. I recall Walter Cronkite in tears, the same couple of video clips over and over for several days. Oswald/Jack Ruby two days later. The funeral procession.

Three ... no TV ... not one iota of a recollection... but I do recall stuff from then.

In '68... TV showing the RFK stuff, etc at "Aunt S's ... "day care" ... 20-25 kidz in a fenced yard ...

Just another playday ... but that was a dark summer in real life ... lots of stuff I was watching ... as a kid still, but I remember.

I was sitting on the floor, in front of the TV. My mom was behind me ironing. At 3 years old, I didn’t understand what was going on.

Was in elementary school, 4th grade, California; announced over the intercom...we were sent home. Don't remember teachers crying, but I do remember the intense angst and sadness.

Mrs. Appelgate's 6th Hour Seventh grade math class. Waiting to go home, enjoy my parent's 16th anniversary and, then, slip out for Rec Night at my Jr. High school to chase girls.

My parents were both Dems who actively campaigned for JFK and their anniversary was never the same after that.

Delivering the Oakland Tribune on my stingray bicycle and sometime around this time was The Ed Sullivan Show was soon to introduce a life changing interest in my musical tastes.

Standing in the square or quad as they called it at college. I guess I was between classes with nothing to do when I should have been studying. They did announce over the PA which I didn't even know they had. Never heard anything before announced that I remember.

Or maybe it was just a buzz amongst students. Long time ago so the only thing I'm sure about is the location. Mid morning our time, IIRC. Of course classes were cancelled on that Friday. I don't remember if school opened Monday or not. That very well may have been the beginning of Thanksgiving break. I think so.

Addendum...I also remember watching his funeral on our fancy new (to us) B&W Philco TV that had a swivel screen.

I was a junior in HS, sitting in drafting class when an announcement over the loud speaker said President Kennedy was assinated. School was let out, students crying, hugging each other. Walked home with my older sister who was crying. Mom was sitting in the living room watching black and white t.v. Of the event. We were glued to the t.v. For the entire event. Still vivid in my mind after all these years. Truly an American tragedy.

Fourth grade, at lunch in the open air picnic tables between the classrooms. The door to Ms. Hoy's class burst open and so did Mr. Houston's classroom. It was the first time I experienced adults weeping. It was so sad. My Marine Dad, a republican was really shaken up. The days to the televised funeral were a blur, very confusing for a 9 year old.
