Our north-south roads have a thick ice buildup from the snow/wind....snow plows couldn't peel it off. The patches are about 3" thick.
Kinda dangerous because the ice patches are scattered which allows drivers to go full speed before hitting them.

I'm right in the middle of the 10-11 inch area for tomorrow. The snowblower is all gassed up.

Good reminder Steve,

We’re supposed to get some snow Saturday, but sounds like only 3” or so. I have an appointment to get my winter tires mounted and will be going right by the non-ethanol station and need to bring the can and fill it up for my blower.

Snow is coming on strong again....winter storm warning thru Sunday noon.
This time less wind, but the snow is wet and heavy.

We had about 4 inches of snow here today. But the wind is really gusting. I just finished up using the snowblower on the driveway and sidewalks. Glad I got one that I could hook up an extension cord to to start it. It didn’t even want to try to start with me pulling on the start cord.

^^^ Mine is like that also...sure saves a lot of pulling, especially the first use of the season.
I have to prime mine twice as much as the instructions say...or it won't start. (even with the plug-in)

It’s been snowing lightly all day here in metro MN at about 21F, so light and fluffy stuff.

I got my snow tires mounted on the Saab today-holy crap was that place packed; I had an appointment, so not too bad.

Filled up the car and my snowblower can with some ethanol free stuff, so I’m ready to go, will probably get the snowblower out in the morning for the first time. I run it dry at the end of each season and it usually starts on one or two pulls on the first outing!

Two years ago, before I retired, I worked for a city and I would have had to been working the phone today and trying to get staff called in to snowblow, shovel and plow several city buildings and bus stops and even though I was non-union, salary and management, I wasn’t supposed to have to remove snow, but in order to get the job done for the citizens, I probably would have had to drive in... I don’t miss it even one bit!!!

Envious.

No snow here in the PNW. The ski resorts got some hopeful dumps early in October, it all melted off and now we are starting from dirt again :-(

A pic out my kitchen window of new snow on the deck. Must be a good 10-12 inches.

The turtles have a view of outside...basement window. I'm sure they are laughing.

I just now shoveled the walkways off. I measured 8" of new snow on the pond edge.
The temp is 28...so not bad. No wind, so it'll be fun with the snowblower.

I just went out and blew my driveway, maybe 5” this round?

I did the neighbors drive too, he was trying to get his to start and apparently it wasn’t having it. They moved in a couple years ago and there is a language barrier, so I just blew it off and motioned with a few hand gestures to which way I should throw it. Their driveway sucks as they have the driveway that goes between houses to a rear garage, so you have no where to put the snow on the sides, so you need to blow it straight out and then double blow it to a side.

I have a Toro paddle type single stage that’s maybe ten years old now. First start of the season, filled it with gas, pulled out the choke, three pushes of the primer and one pull! Love these things, we called them snow pups at my job. The 2 stroke ones were extra great, light, lots of power and took a beating. The 4 stroke versions are slightly less useful, but like how they clear the snow all the way down to the driveway; single stage, so they don’t throw very far.

The sun was out most of the day and the weather report said no more snow until tomorrow noon.
Right now, I can't see across my yard....it's a white-out with snow. The wind has picked up and it's coming down sideways.

Did a bit of shoveling today.
Back held up somehow.
Pumped up on Asprin/Potassium/VitD3/Magnesium/Fluids/Caffeine.
No hurry. Good flow. Divide short patterns for efficiency. Small lifting. Lightweight shovel. Always push downhill.
Call it another win day.
