Great video. When I ran my shop, none of the cars were under 10 years old - in Ohio. "Rust time" was one of the biggest time sucks, and you couldn't anticipate how or where it would raise its ugly head. "Filth Time" was also an issue. Some VWs would come in with the back seat so packed with crap that it took 20 minutes just to service the battery. Cleaning the car, and then yourself and your tools after working on a car that's been leaking oil for years is also a time suck. The Kubota dealer back home had a kid who did nothing but steam clean tractors before they went into the shop. I could have used a guy like that in my shop. |
Rust factor? A simple google search will show owners of new ford trucks hitting the dealer lots with surface rust.
