Winter getting a good early start.

Snow started this morning and the wind speed is up to 30 mph here.
Blizzard warnings in the UP and supposed to last thru the weekend. Forecasted to get 6-8 inches of new snow where I live today and tomorrow. Roads are getting bad.

Busiest travel days of the year are today and Sunday.

Almost time..I would have liked a good base layer of ice before this snow.

We got a bunch of rain, temps dropped and snow came down, so we got a layer of ice underneath. Maybe an inch or so of total snow.

I was supposed to do a 3 mile easy run today- nope, got to the street and icy coating over most of it so not worth the risk and even with risk, would have been so slow that exercise amount wouldn’t have been worthwhile, I’ll try tomorrow.

Just slightly below freezing, so it is slowly melting. I got the ice scraper out and it popped off the driveway quite easily. Car is a frozen block.

Snow has picked up more....visibility is terrible.
I live on a 55mph road and cars are creeping by.

10-20 ft visibility in the dark this morning. Some pickup just stopped in the road--no effort to move to the side. Amish buggies still out despite minimal visibility. So fun.

Wow! And I'm not even up there! Seems like this is the kind of nonsense that happens while I'm up there fishing.

^^^ The wind is the worst part...the weatherman said we had gusts over 55 mph.
Tomorrow, I'll have to get the snowblower out....and hope it starts.

It's too early for this stuff to stay.

Yeah the wind has been crazy here today too. I was supposed to have a crew installing a standing seam metal roof on my patio addition but knew that wasn't happening by 4:30 am.

Snowblower started right up...not bad for 25 years old.
Some of the drive had hardly any snow...some had a good foot because of the high winds. If I could find a place where it wasn't affected by the wind, I would guess we had 7 or 8 inches.

Neighborhood roads are still iced up, but the sun is shining, so good chance they melt soon. Hope so as I need to go to a friend’s house in a couple hours and don’t have the snow tires on yet.

Y'all be safe out there. We have some cold temps tonight and tomorrow night, the rain moves in Sunday night, but at least we don't have to deal with snow that often down here.

Too warm here to operate the snowblower. Just before it plugged up completely, the snow came out the chute looking like loaves of bread coming out of a sausage maker.

Shovel worked pretty well, unfortunately.

I use mine like a gas powered shovel if the snow is too wet.

The snow we had a couple of weeks ago didn't feel like winter. It was 60 degrees the next day.
THIS feels like winter. It's cold and windy here today. Yesterday was brutal. Winds were 40mph gusting to 55, and it was 35 degrees and falling. I dragged the pressure washer out of the barn and into the garage so it wouldn't freeze and had little ice balls pelting me all the way.

Sorry, guys. It's 80º here today. Clear and a bit breezy but not the full on Santa Ana's that starts all the fires like last year. This after 2 weeks of unseasonably cloudy, cold and wet weather.

Went out for a short bike ride this morning. Above 60 at 8:30 but by time I was done just before noon, it was in the mid 70s. Yep, Santa Ana wind has kicked up a bit but not too bad at all but I sure felt the head win blowing the other direction on my way home. Got in 150 miles so far this week.
