I tried to "delete all" my pet-peeve list, but..

hahahah..I'm older now. trying to live life differently. more positive, etc.

part of that process is to not let stuff bother me. let it go, be less judgy... work in progress for sure. get rid of the P-Peeves.

but GD it!! the baggage claim luggage conveyor belt thing. why do people need to crowd the thing? its almost a compulsion to do so. get right up to the belt and as a group cover the the entire circumference. I try to hang back, if I see my bag, go up grab it move off. if everyone did what I did, it would be clean. but no0000, I have to run the gauntlet, hurdle carts, older (than me) people. hahah..

be honest now. you a conveyer crowder person?

Same reason they rush the gate to sit in a tiny cramped uncomfortable seat before everyone else, I guess. Or crowd the aisle the nanosecond the seatbelt light goes out at the terminal. Airplane travel brings out the 'weird' in humans. Maybe the innate greed in our collective dna?

Same here....I either take everything onboard with me....or buy what I need when I get there.

This. I have shipped clothing via UPS, took only a biker shoulder bag to Paris and London, took nothing and bought what I needed, and so on.

It is wonderful to walk off the plane and go home.

When I was doing a lot of foreign travel for DoD, we would generally know a month or so in advance of the trips...our Foreign Military Sales (FMS) Lead in the office was great and we would ship uniforms and to the first hotel we were staying at. We'd know a few weeks in advance if it got there.

My carry on had all the stuff I needed for a few days delay in transit, etc. FMS is ceremonial heavy so the uni truck was always packed.

All my aeropuerto pet peeves revolve(d) around less than frequent fliers.

It depends. When working away from home for weeks or months on end and traveling home for weekends, I'd leave everything in the city where I was working, including a car. I'd carry on a book to read and a pocketful of free drink coupons.

Vacations, I'd check most of it and carry on a days worth of whatever in case my luggage got lost. On the way back, everything bought on the trip would be shipped back home.

Short duration trips, I'll pack a carry-on.

I've seldom waited on baggage at the carousel but, since I walk faster than the average Joe, I usually get there pretty early and I've been known to wait for the bag where it gets dumped out.

Another "If I can't carry it on, I don't need it." traveller here. We spent two weeks in the south of France with what would fit in the overhead. Off the plane, through security right to the rental car inside 10 minutes. My wife always selects accommodations which have laundry facilities.

Yes, I'm a crowder. I wouldn't be if everyone hung back, but since folks crowd it, I get my spot.

On what I see as a related note, folks that try to enter an elevator while folks on the elevator are getting off. Really, it makes sense or seems like a good idea to try to enter while one or more folks are getting off rather than wait the 10 seconds that it takes for the entry to be empty.

Even worse, 20+ years ago, I was on one of those little trams at an airport that take you from one terminal to another, and this tram only had doors on one side. When the tram got to the destination and the doors opened, the folks waiting to get on had formed a complete semi-circle around the exit. I was in a bit of a mood, and plowed through a narrow gap dragging my suitcase over at least 2 different feet. I like to think that time has tempered me quite a bit and I wouldn't do that now. But I'm sure that if my mood was just right (wrong)...

100%. I checked luggage earlier this month for the first time in years and it was very weird. I had my luggage delayed once or twice 25 years ago when I was traveling for work. That cured me of checked luggage.

I generally carry a smallish suitcase that fits in the overhead and then a small backpack with things like ipad, electronics charger, assorted small items, etc...

A friend of my wife has what looks like a travel pillow that she packs her clothing for short trips in.
Toiletries go into her purse or computer bag.

carry on luggage is not immune to complaints. hahha..

i usually travel with a small pack that fits in overhead compartments. but this time, nope. Japan was cold, Taiwan was hot and humid, and i packed running clothes. things filled up in a hurry.

plus i fully expect to buy stuff to bring back. i brought back huge sacks of dried ingredients. scallops, mushrooms, etc. not to mention fishing gear.

unexpectedly, my inlaws gifted us a huge silk comforter...wtf? that thing was not so compressable. it got out of hand on the way home. geesh.

I carry everything I need in a small backpack. Clothing, meds, etc. I’m never going see these people again, so I mix and match a few shirts, pants, shorts. Did the same for our two weeks in Paris last summer.

hahhaha... yea, in some circles that is a pro move. I side-eye the person that puts the tiny purse up there just to keep their feet space wide opened. I love the milli-second the airplane brakes do that final tiny screech to a stop and everyone stands up to get their overhead stuff. carry on is a bull**** religion too.

No point in me standing up until there have been enough people getting out of the way so I can get to the aisle seat. I like a window seat and there's no way I can stand up under the overhead bins.
I was actually complimented by cabin staff on one January flight to Edmonton. As we slowly made our way to my row, I had my parka off and folded. Stepping out of the aisle the parka went into the depths of the overhead with my carry on in front. Time elapsed was less than 10 seconds. I heard a voice behind me say,"You're done that before!". She was correct.
