This is a long video but very interesting stuff from Larry Chen. Sent from my SM-S916U using Tapatalk |
How much is the necessary 3D printer?
|
The Nov/Dec issue of Car & Driver has a nice write-up on it also.
An incredible car. |
There are two versions of that review/issue.
E-subscribers got one version with the C21 on the cover, newsstand customers got a different version with a Mustang vs Porsche 911 GT3 RS on the cover. |
Really good effort, great for showcasing Divergent but sorry but I'm not buying into 3D printing with AI actually makes a lighter, faster car
You can have the very best shape optimising software most processing power but if you haven't got skilled, experienced design, analysis and manufacturing engineers to rationalise everything you just end up with over complicated and heavy parts Shape accuracy, manufacturing speed, cost and most especially material fatigue properties of 3D printed metallic parts are all compromised compared to machined from solid billet From my outside perspective this goes a long way in explaining why the Czinger C12 has 4 cylinders less, no hybrid battery/MGU, no luggage space and 160kg or nearly 15% heavier when compared to the similar priced/perfomance GMA T33 Saying that, what the guys and girls at Zcinger are doing is still very impressive, so I doff my cap in their general direction and would love to visit their factory and be convinced I'm wrong |
