Santa arrived early...
New Deere appeared in my garage this morning!
X-590 with 25.5 hp Kaw EFI engine. 54 inch Accel Deep Deck Power Steering and Traction Assist. Hurry up Spring!! http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1766005016.jpg |
Thing looks like a beast! Are you keeping the old John Deere tractor you have?
|
You said you were tempted when you went down to the dealer to get an air cleaner. That was one expensive air cleaner. Happy trails.

No, I traded it in. Didn't get nearly what it is worth, but the convenience of them picking it up while delivering mine made it worth it to me. Plus, not dealing with the buyers trying to get it for next to nothing. |

Yes, the JD dealership is no place to go if it can be helped. :D . |
JD revamped their seats with front and back suspension...much better than the old type.(which mine was)
Since my back surgery, three years ago, mowing my lawn turned into a one or two break job. I can do the whole lawn in about an hour and a half....but my back wouldn't take it. This seat will take the jolts out of the ride. |
It needs a snowblower attachment!
|
Congrats Steve.
That looks like one hell of a tractor. I like that it has lights so you can mow in the cool of the evening hours too. |

I had a snowblower for my JD317....about 25 years ago. I found that a walk behind is a lot more maneuverable and faster than one mounted to the tractor....for me. I have my Trac Vac attachment....that's very important for my lawn.:) . |
Congrats on the cool new tool!
I'd love to get a new Z-turn mower (for the missus), but those things are pricey and ours is still working. Did you get the optional black walnut picker upper attachment? |

Thanks....that's one of the first things that I have planned to mod. I'll check it out, but I think the lights are the same as my old 335....not worth it. They have high output led kits that just plug in and give you new car type lighting. Easy and inexpensive upgrade. . |

I never asked about that....would be well worth it if they did. :D I tried using my Trac Vac one year to do that. Lowered the cutting height to less than an inch and it picked up some and smashed more by running over them with the tires. Once they are smashed into the lawn...they stay. It did make a lot of noise when the nuts flew into the cart at high speed. . |
Another reason for wanting this tractor.... the anti-scalp wheels turn sideways for deck removal....a big factor for me because mine didn't.
Pulling that thing out with the wheels turned the wrong way is tough with the pulleys hitting the underside. My last JD lasted me 25 years with no problems....If this one does the same, I'll be 97 and looking to trade in again. :) . |
Steve, I am envious that A), you got a shiny new lawn tractor, and B) that you NEED a lawn tractor.
"Gentlemen, say hello to the Allegro X9J, code name "Redeemer" at the Mason mower skunkworks in Sidemount Hood. 73 decibels of twin-barrel four-stroke war cry, all at a price I can't really afford." http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1766011419.jpg |
^^^ I could have got by with my 335 for some years...but I kept relating to 'when to take SS?'
Why wait for a new one, when you can enjoy it now? I won't be excited for a new one when I'm 80.:D I'll have to look into modding the exhaust. . |
Absolutely! (But you never know what you'll be excited for when you're 80! Maybe Honda will bring back the CRX!)

Speaking of....the salesman that I deal with at Honda called me just yesterday. He knew I was interested in the new Prelude and they were allotted one for this year to sell. He wanted to know if I would like to put my name in for it. They had not given him any details as to color yet. I told him I would wait. I would like to drive one first...but that will likely not happen. . |
That's a lot of power for a small tractor, but you can never have too much power. Operating mine is one of the fun things in life. Have fun with yours.

Thanks....I get more excited about new JD stuff than getting a new car. :D It has a foot button (like an old high beam switch) that can be pushed to lock the rear drive tires for traction. I know that will come in handy sometimes. . |
That's really nice. It's one of the features only larger tractors have - at least used to.
