ATF. Alcohol Turkey Firearms!
Lying in a hotel somewhere in the palm desert. Two old dudes that thought we were still spry and young. Haha. We marathon drove here from the Texas desert. Ran out of juice and I called it and Esmeralda rented us a room in a holiday inn. Express.
What a trip for me following my Asia adventure. My friend and I agreed to share our harvest of meats. He got a hog and a “unicorn”. A young Aoudad ewe! (We put a few chunks over fire. It’s delicious and tender!) So I took a deer doe for the venison and two turkeys. One bird was taken with my brothers ,410 shotgun. I want to chat about the second bird. I had a goal. I wanted to try hitting a big Tom-turkey with my .22! A patriarch bird is a touch selfish. It pecks at food rabidly moving its head so fast. A hen from the group will keep watch for danger. She will be occasionally statuesque- a chip shot. One tom paused to long. 50 yard CCI mini-mag to the melon! It was really fun. Prior to all this, we visited the police academy gun range. It’s where my trip highlight happened. My friend used to competitively shoot. He is deadeye! I uttered,” one shot challenge?” .22 handguns. One bullet. Clean target taped up at 35 or 40 yards. (Leftover clean target from sighting .22 rifles at 50) yards. He has a buttery S&W model 41. Me, a Browning Buckmark Contour. I’m went first. I lined it up and it just felt perfect. I touch the trigger with a gentle feathery finger. The resulting hole elicits a “awwwww” from some recruits. I look. I kiss the center dot! My friend was just a touch further from center. A FANTASTIC shot. But I won dinner! I circled out two shots. The rest are me emptying my gun into the center. C = Cliff D= Dave. http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1766243422.jpg |
