My wife cooks the same way, untidy, I can't wrap my head around it though.

I found out it is supposed to have an almond paste filling..."it is???" or marzipan.

hers is more biscotti. a stollen is supposed to be somewhat moist from the fruit.

my German friends walked me thru what is for them.

I think the almond paste/marzipan is optional. Most of the stollen that I've had included it, but not all of them. I thought that was weird and looked it up. What I found said that it was optional. For me, I definitely want the marzipan.

Outstanding! You're a hell of a guy!

Merry Christmas to you both!

Congrats! Making someone cry with tears of joy is a special thing this time of year.

Thanks for reminding us of the Christmas spirit.

We have had a Kitchen Aid one for countless years. They just look "right" and work well.

However, when the wife gets into baking mode, she pulls out the Zuccie and uses it. I have never used it, but apparantly can handle more dough volume and has a fair bit more power.

Cheers

Yes, you do. With the attachments for rolling pasta, grinding meat, etc.

Also, while we're talking, you need a Vitamix.

Two things I can't live without.

You are a great guy Vash. Thanks for sharing this story, Good reminder for me to be on the lookout for how to help those around me than may need some encouragement.

This is absolutely true. Rock solid. You may happen to see them regularly abused on network cooking shows. We have a used one sitting in the garage waiting to be given away. My wife got a new Vitamix last year for Christmas (her idea). Let me know if you’re interested in the used one and I can send pics.

vash 12-26-2025 06:57 AM

I DO need a Vitamix. my Breville makes that ozone smell when I blend soybeans for milk.

same thing? Vitamix has various quality levels??? the one at Costco any good?

I do see lots for sale on FBMP

Like I said, let me know if you’re interested and I will provide more info. It would be free, btw.
