Glock owners? Trigger mod?

I searched the threads and nothing comes close to this topic.

The G19 gen 4 OEM trigger sucked and was too heavy.
I replaced the entire group with a Pyramid trigger assembly. The pull is still too heavy especially with my new arthritis.

I've tried a lighter striker spring but of course I got light strikes and FTFs.

I've heard that polishing the connector and other bits helps and have viewed the YT vids but I'm wondering if it actually lightens trigger pull.

Anybody have any insight / experience with this?

The generally accepted thought is that the "25 cent trigger job" will smooth out the trigger pull but not actually make it lighter. The smoother pull gets rid of the "crunchy" (or "mushy") feel so on a low round count pistol it may feel lighter (with a more crisp break). If your pistol has 2000 rounds through it, you may not feel much difference.

What connector are you using and have you had the trigger pull measured?
The stock trigger in a Gen 5 is about 5-5.5 lbs. There are 3.5 and 4.5 connectors available. The NY trigger is 10 lbs.

A 4.5 connector is available. Look at Ghost Inc 4.5 lb connector.

***Beware that lighter pull can be a problem for defense carry. It is usually for competition shooters.

The GS sends as many stickers as any off roading supplier does!

Check if a 4.5 connector is available.

Also, when you say "spring" I am wondering if you are referring to the RSA (return spring assembly)

I'm way past 2000 rounds. The spring I refer to is the one enveloping the striker. I've been told that it would help with the trigger but it only resulted in light strikes. I don't see how it could impact the trigger pull.

A different connector kinda makes sense.

See my update to my reply. Ghost makes springs and connectors that can help but again, be wary of too light a trigger... Ghost is a respected brand for Glock upgrades. (I have no connection to them)

Because of safety or light strikes?

Both but mainly safety.

Glock triggers are a deep rabbit hole. I've used Ghost connectors and done the $.25 polishing job with success. I had an Apex trigger in one that was nice too. But it's silly to dump a lot of money into making a Glock trigger feel nice, when you can just buy another striker gun for the same or less $$ that has a way better trigger out of the box. Canik TS9, HK VP9, SIG P365XL, P320, Walther and on and on. All have way, way better triggers than Glock.

I think I have the 4.5 connector in my Glock 34 (it has been some years since I have messed with it). I was heavily into IDPA competition and Glocks ruled at every event I competed at in the ssp category. These style of handguns are never going to have a super light trigger like a 1911 dedicated precision target shooting type weapon. However for run and gun close range defensive type shooting Glock type triggers are plenty good to keep shots on the large targets.

Just found this link from when I first bought my Glock to compete in IDPA.... Man time flies.... it seems like just a couple years ago but it was 17 years ago:eek: How is this possible?:(

Did a bit of IDPA a few years back myself. LOVED it but life seems to get in the way.

Def Glock was the predominant brand though not my choice.

Would that I could but my disposable income doesn't allow for another purchase.

The above comment can easily parallel the wars on best oil or chip wars of the air cooled days. That said, the suggestions you propose are more expensive except for 1 or 2 that I wouldn't trust my life with (PLEASE read https://revealnews.org/article/sig-sauer-p320-police-resale-public/), more complicated and harder to clean or repair, have a fraction of free accessible information for repair, have a fraction of customization options, and worst of all: less reliable.

Short of competition shooting, Glock is the best choice IMO.

You can claim that I am a Glockaholic but facts are facts.

Flatt: to further explain - when a trigger is too light, there is a serious risk of Negligent Discharge. NO BRAND will provide trigger that light but many can be modified.
Also, the 25 cent trigger job: the point is to polish. Never remove metal. Many experts advise only do it by hand since a heavy hand with a demel can remove metal and cause a malfunction or safety issue.

Thanks Joe. The embedded safety blade is always my first thought when handling the weapon at the range. Of course it's always pointed down range and I have never swept the line. My trigger discipline is excellent probably due to my hyper vigilance.

I just ordered some Flitz and 1200 grit sandpaper.

Let us know how it turns out. Consider a new connector as well.

Looking at the Ghost and Taran.

I suggest avoiding anything sold by Lenny in Nashville with "double diamond" in the part name.

Welcome to my world.

Might wanna check prices on used pre-Gen6 Glocks, I know when the new ones were announced with the "no switch" changes the Gen5s in stock sold out quick ....

Might be able to sell/trade into something you like better.... I'll throw in a recommendation for CZ, the various 39xx/59xx S&Ws, Sig (not the 320 but 226/228 or 365 if you want plastic) and the Hi Power design. For the CZ and HiPower there are plenty of good clones out there as well.

I have a new in box 19x for sale, if anyone is shopping.
