Lol my brother thought of a good idea and looking around the internet it seems its a totally untapped market. Fancy guitar cases. Like why not make your case as cool as the guitar is. Maybe they are meant to hide whats inside not show it off? Still im sure there are people that dont need to hide it just want it protected

That handset still does not allow the great satisfaction of slamming down the phone on annoying calls. Just pushing the button to hang up is sadly unsatisfying compared to the old analog phone days.

Or a related note, years ago (probably 12) we had an audio engineer (PhD) visit from a vendor to talk about a product that went hand in hand with VoIP phones. He was saying that "they" had a tough time because the old style handsets (like you have pictured) were good for audio, noise, quality, etc..., but that the way cell phones were (are) built, flat and shorter than the distance between the ear and mouth made it very difficult for audio engineers to enable good audio. I'm assuming the growing size of cell phones since then has helped since the speaker and mic are now closer to the ear and mouth vs when cell phones were smaller.
So potentially, that handset above should actually enable (assuming it's quality components) better audio performance for calls.

Fun idea, for a trinket, though!

The description, in the link, says it comes with a 9ft. coiled cord. And is compatible with any phone that has a headphone jack. (3mm)
For $6....You can look like a Boss!

Hi
Yes ! Strong EMF right next to the skull/brain is still a thing. Who wants a plug in handset with a nine foot cord ! See link below for a better solution. Panasonic Cordless phone, with base station that automatically pairs with your Cell Phone using Bluetooth. Leave the Cell Phone in another room and make and receive calls thru it using the Cordless handset. Much less EMF exposure. ^^^ You might have missed the point of buying this $6 phone.
EMF doesn't factor in....it's all for the looks.

I have slammed and thrown many old phones, dealing with knuckleheads, in the building business. It comes with great satisfaction!
Unfortunately, cell phones are too expensive to throw. |

My neighbor had one of these about 10 years ago. Weird to see in the backyard. Even weirder in a car.
But good luck finding a cell phone that still has a headphone jack. From a practical standpoint, such a cell phone would be the modern equivalent of the Western Electric 3500 that that handset is based on.

^^^ My 'less than 1 year old' Motorola G Play has a headphone jack. In fact, every cellphone I've owned has had the 3mm jack on the top of the phone.
I don't plan on buying this...but I think it would be fun to use it while driving.

^^^ See the post above yours.
Headphone jacks are on most new phones that I have seen....it's a 3mm jack. Also called an ear bud jack.

Your phone is an exception, sir. The vast majority of phone manufacturers moved away from headphone jacks years ago...most connect "headphones" via the USB-C port now.
Here ya go. Apparently, there are 9 phones that you can still get a 3.5MM headphone jack on. https://www.digitec.ch/en/page/these-phones-still-have-an-actual-headphone-jack-22270

^^^ Wonder why they don't list my Motorola G that is less than a year old?
I have used my last 3 cellphones while biking for music for years now. The pic is my Moto showing the bird cam just now with the ear buds to show.

Pissed me off when my "new" phone didn't have the headphone jack (probably about 7 years ago). I've adapted since then

Is the 3mm different than the 3.5mm jack?
Maybe that's the difference? I don't know...just glad it works for biking with Sirius XM.

No...I believe it's technically a 3.5mm Jack. most people just call it a 3mm (cuz we're lazy). IF it completely goes away, you can still buy wired earbuds that plug directly into your USB-C charging port.
BUT if you really want quality, comfortable ear buds, I highly encourage these: https://www.bose.com/p/earbuds/bose-ultra-open-earbuds/ULT-HEADPHONEOPN.html?dwvar_ULT-HEADPHONEOPN_color=MOONLIGHT+GREY&quantity=1

^^^ Hah!...those look nice. My $20 Sony earbuds are all I need for biking.
![]() But I do find myself pulling one out when I come to intersections....just in case. It would draw some attention if I used the retro phone while biking. ![]() .
