I feel sorry for them, especially since she's wanting to raise a child and protect the child. More than anything else, I feel sorry for the child. Hopefully, she's able to instill the child with the strength to rise above the effects that this will bring, likely for many years.

There's no way that this will have any impact on her body of work on the Internet.
It seems it's having the opposite effect.

In this day and age, you can't erase the past, especially if it's on the 'Net. And that's probably more true for sex work than anything else.

No sympathy. They're not the first Internet porn stars to regret their past. There were plenty of examples for them to learn from. They're not regretting all the money they made. And they probably know they'll never make that kind of money again outside of porn. Cry me a river.

I'm not judging them for doing porn, just for the hubris that they think they are going to achieve anything by appealing to the Internet to delete their content. I'm almost skeptical that they even really mean it. It could well be a ploy to increase views of their work to make them more money.

They used the web in the past for profit. Are they doing it again? If they truly wanted this stuff to disappear, they would quietly take it down as best they could and speak of it no more. But this announcement sounds like it could be, "Pay more attention to us so we can monetize our "regrets" also." (call me a cynic) Add that to the people who say, "I never heard of them. I'll look them up," and this could add up to another nice payday for them.

On the other hand, does it really make a difference? Porn is so ubiquitous, their contributions could get lost in the flood by the time their kids are old enough to be shocked by it, assuming they WOULD be shocked, instead of going into the business for a quick buck themselves.

Yea, it sounds like they are trying to cause the Barbara Streisand effect.

The internet never forgets. Their videos will be available for the rest of time.

I suspect lots of ladies (and many men) regret their porn videos from their youth. No doubt many teenage boys are searching for porn and find their moms did some back in their college days.

I have to agree with Rick and Patrick. The world quit paying attention to them and as a result the money quit coming in. This is no more than a cheap ploy to make one last buck the only way they know how.

It is very much harder these days to fade back into obscurity than it was before the Internet. We all know that. There are far better ways to do so than this, however. Change their names, change their hair, makeup, etc. Move and break contact with anyone that knew what they were doing. Slide into a low key mid life lifestyle. Learn a different skill.

But that's not what they want.

The same thought occurred to me. Who would REALLY think that pr0n could ever "go away". And this ladies kid isn't likely to be impacted by it for 10 years.

The most taboo (legally speaking) porn out there are the old underage Traci Lords VHS tapes. And, while you don't see them floating around flea markets, plenty of them have been ripped or converted for free online viewing. So I don't think the modern, legal, consenting adult stuff is going away in our lifetimes.

The only/best hope for anyone that truly wants their stuff to fade into the wood work is that newer modern stuff becomes more desired and the older stuff becomes old hat. And there are so many folks doing porn out there that there could be some fading into the woodwork from dilution.

But since it's all electronic and these ladies are "modern" enough that it's still high-res enough for modern viewers, there will be those folks that just like the look of these ladies, so they will be favorites of them, and they will collect it.

Any porn on the 'Net isn't going anywhere.

Going public with “we want to be left alone” is counter to that goal.

If you were successful and well known in the industry, you will never shake it. And you probably wouldn't want to. The big name stars from the 80s and early 90s still make tons of money selling off memorabilia and autographs at adult video conventions. I met Ginger Lynn in a restaurant in LA a while back, had a good chat with her and she sent me a friend request from her real FB account. When I browsed her friends list, there were plenty I recognized from my high school days who were now realtors in SoCal under different names. No one younger than me would likely recognize them. But lots f folks my age and older would. Just sayin'.
