I got stiffed by an eBay seller
I don’t buy many things on eBay, but I got robbed by machparts2025, with a Sync 3 upgrade for my 2014 F150.
machparts2025 on eBay is a thief. I thought I would update and warn everybody on my experience with the eBay seller machparts2025. The original Sync 3 was defective, so they sent another part, and it was still defective. After weeks of back-and-forth, they sent me a UPS label to send it back. I sent it back, to their location in California and asked for my refund. They kept promising, never did refund me and now I’m past the eBay return window. They don’t reply to my messages. So I’m out $350. Not the end of the world, but I don’t like getting robbed. That was my fear of buying something made with Chineseium. You can see from the videos, the screen would flick all over the place, turning things off and on. Rant over… Last edited by A930Rocket; 04-30-2026 at 07:08 PM.. |

What's eBay saying? Are they even trying to get your money back?

AI says they're a top rated seller with a 4.6 rating over 2500 reviews. Keep hounding them, they sound legit and they'll probably refund you

Ebay has given me money back when the seller would not refund. The seller in fact told me how to do it.
Enter this in Google: will ebay pay for a seller that will not refund money?

I bought two items from two separate companies in California on Feb 18. One for $400 and the other for $250. Never received either item. Once I paid in full, all communication stopped from both companies. My Visa credited me for the $400 purchase on Monday and the other was paid via PayPal and I filed a dispute a few days ago after waiting patiently.
Oddly enough, I never had any issues buying items on eBay even from China. Scammers are everywhere.

If your transaction was linked to a credit card, open an investigation with your CC company ASAP. It's saved my skin a few times.
That's why I won't tie my paypal to a bank account.

I'm surprised you didn't get your money back as soon as USPS or other shipper scanned the shipping label. I've bought and returned 2 things in the last few months got the refund notification the day I dropped it off at uSPS.
Your credit card or bank will get your money back for you.

I can provide some great advice here. I am an avid eBay-er and have run into this a few times.
Start your process here, if it rejects you can go directly to your credit card company. Have your tracking # for return ready and they can usually do a full refund with proof of delivery on that tracking #. |

I gave up eBay years ago after it transitioned from a market place where buyers and sellers were near equal and worked together cooperatively. After it changed to a place where sellers were dominant, I quit and found other sources. I used eBay quite a bit 25 years ago for quite a while, but haven't now for years.

my experience with eBay is if you provide them dates and copies of your communication with the seller- they will refund your money regardless of refund policy. You need to help them prove your position..

File a CC claim. That will get ebay in gear. They will push it on the seller.

I’ve messaged the seller multiple times and he’s gone radio silent.
I called my bank the other day, to file a claim. They’ve temporarily paid me back, while they work it out with eBay/the seller. I’ll try your idea, Bob After two months of trying to get a refund, eBay says it’s been over 73 days since I received it, and I’m not eligible. I have a video of the problem, pictures, screenshots of all communication with the seller. Last edited by A930Rocket; 05-01-2026 at 07:23 PM.. |

I thought I would circle back and let everybody know the outcome. I contested it with my bank, and they initially refunded me. After BOA consulting with eBay and me not returning by eBay’s return policy, the contest was denied.
I was hesitant paying $350 for electronics from China and my concerns played out. Not the end of the world, but lesson learned. |

I have better luck with credit cards when contesting charges.
