Crazy low TV prices
So this morning our 20 + year old Panasonic 42 " plasma TV waved the white flag . I think the power supply died . Zero complaints on that tv she served us well .
Wally world is the only close place to buy tv's so off we went . Ended up with a 58 " Hisense 4k OLED+ on rollback sale . Out the door with a 4 year extended warranty and tax $266.00 !!!! I know we won't get 20 + years out of this one but at those prices it truly is disposable . The picture quality is outstanding 👌. The screen has virtually no edge frame . I am quite impressed. |

75’ Vizio for $300.
Kind of a mistake. Sucks up an entire wall. Messes up the whole flow of the room. And I’m told one of the reasons things are that cheap is that they’re collecting data on you.

We have a couple of 65” TCLs, one on the deck and my oldest son has the other. Both were about $300 and have been great for over three years. It’s wild how cheap tvs are.

A friend of mine, was just moved to the “Hospice” floor last week (fortunately I just happened to be there when the nurse came in and told him, I immediately cancelled the appointments I had so I could make sure that he was moved And didn’t lose anything else) and as a former Racer, he likes to watch the races, but the TV is , by today’s standards, small.
![]() Last week while I was picking up food for my Feral colony (and checking out Hot Wheels , I saw a 50” Vizio for around $178, and will probably get it for him. ![]() I jokingly said that I would get this one for his room that I saw when I was at Best Buy, picking up a fan for him (new room doesn’t cool very well) ![]() I also told him that if this fan had a remote, I’d have gotten it for him ![]()

I've had a Hisense 75-inch mini-led for almost a year. Very pleased with the unit so far. Excellent picture.....plenty of adjustments to fine tune the picture.....I recommend "Filmmaker" mode.
Oh, yep....turn the microphone off.....they will spy on you! |

I really splurged like 450$ for a TCL something or other not to long ago.
Couple videophile friends said I should go real O LED but those are still expensive. The normal Qled or whatever model seems good enough for me though.

Sheesh a 100 " tv , Stevie Wonder can see that
. The sales associate did tell us they will soon be stocking 100 " at 1499.00 . Whew ! This 58 " we bought fits the cabinet it sits on perfectly and also fits the room without over powering .

I had a Hisense 55" for 10 years It still worked but the smart functions were getting obsolete I gave it away bought a new 55" Hisense about 3 years ago. The first one was about $700, I think. This one was $300 out the door. They are so cheap because of all the ad icons on the screen when you turn it on. Netflix, Disney, Hulu, Apple TV, Youtube TV, etc pay them hoping you will click on them and pay for the services.

With the price of almost everything else being ridiculously high, TV prices are hard to explain. I don’t buy the spying thing…that’s what you have a smart phone for.

TV prices dropping were one of the few good things going. Now they're so low, it won't matter much anymore.

I bought a 60” or 65” Oon TV at Wallyworld a couple years ago for $300. I’d like to go bigger, but it would look ridiculous.
Before this one, I think our biggest TV was 38”? |

Our TV is a 60 inch Sony that we bought long enough ago that it is NOT a smart TV. No software updates, and no spying on us.

Same. I don’t love it, but at the end of the day who cares? Privacy is basically an old fashioned notion in this day and age, unless you want to live off the grid, which I do not.

Like everything else, you get what you pay for with TV's.
The APPs on my 7 year old VISIO have been discontinued. It's now just a monitor. There is no comparison in picture quality/refresh rate compared to my Samsung which is important when you watch sports. A good 75" TV is still a couple of grand. You only live once gents.

I agree with buy good stuff where it matters to you. For me TV not so much. My cheapo tv is mounted over a stereo that I spent decent used car money on.
TV app user experience is a real quality of life thing though. Some are intuitive and some my blood boil
