Coolest tow/recovery trucks ever - Matt's Offroad Recovery

I could watch these for hours. I love the trucks, what's not to love, a Jeep Cherokee that's pulling out stuff much larger than itself (it's not remotely stock), the "Morrvaire", and the wrecker (with 4ws), plus the snow Bombi (snowcat) and some others.

This one is entertaining. The guy's son took the big wrecker out to do a rescue, and got it stuck, so dad had to come get him out.

they get called out to recover 3 vehicles and end up having to recover 7 (this seems to happen fairly often)

I love the area and enjoy his vids. One thing that has struck me is the area is reasonably busy, and there are SXSs Jeeps and other off road stuff with winches all over the place.

Unless it's a heavy or technical rescue, I wonder why they are calling in a pro.

These guys are in the Vegas area and do recoveries for free.
The area rangers, fire, and police call on them to get people out of a jam.
They also will come and get us bike guys should we have issues.

Most of the recoveries that I see either seem to be fairly isolated or seem pretty extreme. In many cases, they say that other folks have already tried and failed to get them out.

Interesting. I've been assuming that by the time you called these guys, you're paying a pretty penny. I wonder how they make any money.
I do see that they now seem to be hosting desert adventures where folks rent SxS and then they lead a group out in to the wilderness.

The Hurricane/Sand hollow area is crawling with SXS and jeep rental companies.

And plenty of fun ways to hurt yourself on two wheels

Me three. There's always a story. Getting a huge RV out of someplace it shouldn't have gone is something they have handled. Bad wrecks too.

We had in-law family in AL that had the Interstate 20 contract east of Birmingham and beyond Talladega. They had one of the big boys that could do a tractor/trailer but they kept the roll backs running constantly. Hook trucks too and they weren't a big outfit. Just family and busy 24/7. Come and go, you never know.

For a time they were on contract with Barber and Talladega. I got some perks out of that.

I posted this one a while back when I first saw it in town... BWM body on a GMC frame. He uses it for deep woods tow recovery, calls it the GMW.

Also love watching Matt work. In WA State, there is a free volunteer group that does this: https://www.facebook.com/WORNPNW/

I started watching Matt when the Cherokee had "Winders" on the door and he'd take Ed with him every trip to report on the weather.

Lately, I find it kind of unwatchable because it's mostly his kid and a couple of employees that I'm not growing to like much.

Take a look at the TrailMater guys. A little rough around the edges, but Rory would rather fix a broken rig than drag it out, and some of the trail repairs are pretty darn creative; plus, he is a natural wheelman in the rocks, and watching him drag a heavy rig up and out of some of those obstacles in Moab is something to see. I think he can just intuit where all the wheels are and how much power is needed to get up and over a rock face. Plus, he's fearless.

I'll check him out.

There's a whole "Mormon Mafia" of YouTubers down there these days building and running Jeeps and wreckers and stuff in Southern Utah and environs; Matt was the catalyst as far as I can tell, but now there's Fab Rats and Colt Builds It and Chad's Fab and Tom Tom's Shop and Robby Layton - probably a few more that I'm missing. I think Tom Tom was pretty much the brains of Matt's Big Wrecker build; then he went off on his own and started his own channel.

I used to watch his channel. I think I stopped because I got tired of the long conversations before he even got to the site.

That first video is the most American thing I've ever seen...dumb but nice people bringing too much machinery into quicksand.

pretty common out there, with the lake levels down the surface dries out and vehicles punch through. A buddy even had that happen at lake mead to his motorcycle. The local SNORR guys got him pulled out.

Another Hurricane area tuber.. can you guess why she is popular..

I can think of a couple of reasons why she might be popular.
