Regional Beer Brands That Are No More

I was watching a classic movie made in '71. Sometimes a great notion, now free on youtube. In it, two popular norhwest beers were featured. Olympia mainly, but also a bar sign featuring Blitz Weinhard. Both now gone....

Have to admit, when younger I enjoyed too many of both brands.

So, how 'bout the rest of you? Any regional to you brands you miss?

There are many craft beer breweries in this area that have folded...esp since Covid.
A lot of them gave up on their own beers and now just sell beer from bigger breweries.

It's a real struggle until your brand catches on...or a bigger brewery buys you out.

Then there was Henry's...but to tell the truth I thought Blitz tasted better...

The beer is still around, but my father was a bricklayer on the Budweiser building in Newark, NJ, that is scheduled for demolition. Iconic building near the airport, sorry to see it go.

Genesee Cream Ale…….You might think should be gone but its still going strong.

Many craft breweries have closed but many remain too

Not from around here but I miss the original Michelob Lager. Can’t recall seeing it here since the 80s.

I heard Schlitz beer just shut down. I don't know if I ever had any.

Schaefer in '70s CT, originally introduced in NYC in 1842, has been bought and sold and discontinued but recently making a comeback according to google.

Schmidt beer in MN. same story, making a comeback. Wildlife on cans was pretty cool.

This is what I miss. One of the first beers I ever had (stole from someone’s fridge) at 13. Maybe its my distorted memory but no beer has ever had that “beer taste” or smell quite like it

I know what you mean. I used to overnight at my cousin's house a lot. His dad drank Blatz and I can still remember that smell. No beer, even Blatz, ever smelled like that once I started drinking it myself.
Cincinnati had a lot of beers 50 years ago, Schoenling, Weidemann, Burger, Hudepohl, Oldenberg that we used to drink. Most of them are gone now, but in our area there is a new micro-brewery on every corner.
Do they still make Robin Hood Ale?

Genny screamers...
There used to be a Michelob Dark that was very good too. Matt's beer balls, Utica Club... not so good but cheap. I think they repurposed Matt's as Saranac? Quite a lot better.

AI says “it is still produced by Anheuser-Busch and can occasionally be found in select markets or ordered online. You can search for nearby availability through platforms like Instacart or Total Wine.”

I have not seen it in a store or bar since the late 80s here, or anywhere I have lived

I'm seeing Michelob Ultra available all over my area....but no plain Michelob.

I haven't had it enough to know there is a difference.

Yet America's oldest beer keeps on selling and expanding.

Yuengling. Founded in 1829, almost 200 years ago. It is one of my favorite beers.
