my guilty joy. the other day, I greeted my kayak fishing buddy with a hearty HELLO - IN KOREAN!..(that **** is not spelled like it sounds, at all)
he said my pronunciation was on point. funny.

I replied, "deh"...which I think means YES. he laughed, so I believe I got it right.

I'll probably be in Tokyo this NYE..I should touch up with some J-Dramas.

back on point. Netflix has some great Korean shows. most are dubbed in English, but I switch it back to Korean and read the subtitles. the shows are not high budget, so they rely on great story telling to sell the show.

am I alone in this?

My wife and I absolutely loved the Extraordinary Attorney Woo series.

Train to Busan is one of my favorite zombie movies! The sequel was ok but not as good.

If he's an age-appropriate friend, no need to be so formal! Just say, "An-yong!" :D

My wife is addicted to that siht along with my friend Cindy Garcia and none of them speak a lick of Korean only that they like Tofu soup(me like too). She got me to watch a couple of them. Its ok, better then our chick flicks if you ask me. What I do like about the K drama is that they have no kissing, cleaning each other's throat in some of their movies and that they are about ordinary folks, at least ones I watch. They were both about rural areas of Korean. I saw Crash Landing On You or something like that. It was pretty good and I Love how they depict live in N Korea.

Off topic, Cliff. We have a huge Korean community here. A couple of my kid's team mates are Korean, very nice and polite kids. They turned us onto this Korean steak house in Korean Town. Traffic is hell out that way but worth the drive. Not cheap, but that meat is cooked over charcoal in front of us. Nope, not by us but the waiter. 80 bucks for a small piece but damn delicious. Must try at least once.

I ate at a restaurant called corner store or something. Nobody spoke English. I just pointed at things on other people’s table. It was profoundly good. In k-town.

I like those places that do not speak a world of English. Its one hell of an adventure. We were in Xian, China and the folks at the Hotel recommended that we check out the Muslim Quarter. This was at the beginning of the Silk Road. We pointed and they recommended this fish dish in soup. It was dang delicious. I only wish I knew what it was called and would ask for it here. Fun times.

Little Rocketman’s wife is Korean. Last summer, I tried to surprise her by saying hello in Korean. She had no idea what I was saying and started laughing, when I explained it.

We were talking the other day, that their kids will learn Korean, be talking amongst themselves, and little Rocket man won’t understand what they’re saying!
