Earthquake hits Lake Michigan

Yesterday, a 2.9 magnitude quake hit at a depth of 3.1 miles under Lake Michigan.
Never felt it here...but I was mowing lawn at the 2:38 pm time.

Odd thing is Florida was cattle capitol,

^^^ It would make for a good movie....Lake Michigan drains to dry dirt, people try to walk across and get lost and form scavenger camps in the middle of the (was lake)

2.9 is pretty small. We had a 2.3 9 hours ago. We've had 110 earthquakes stronger than 1.5 in the past year in East TN.

Yes, it is small...but they are rare up here. I remember the only one I felt was in 1984 and I was watching a Tiger game when it hit. The tv announcer said "what just happened?" At the same time, I thought one of the kids yanked on my recliner that I was sitting in.

That's a bit scary. 3.1 miles down is VERY shallow for an earthquake. The shallow ones are the nasty ones.

I was outside the house and there was a moderate earthquake. A woman stopped her car and walked around it looking at the tires thinking her driving all over the road must be a flat. She laughed when I told her it was only an earthquake.

I was driving on a 40-MPH boulevard when one they called the Newport Beach 4.6 hit in '89. Had I not had the news on the radio I wouldn't have known. It was probably 10 miles from where I was.

No, the roads aren't that bad. I was in a work van.
