Political Surveys - Do You Respond?

Simple question now that it’s getting close to the midterms, when you get a political survey call or text do you respond to the survey? Personally I ignore and report them as spam.

not usually and haven't got one in a long time, but the last one I think wasn't an actual poll, but was rather disguised as a way to try and get me to vote differently.

It had questions that might get a voter to think poorly about a candidate- Here's an embellished very made up example of how their questions were formatted "If you found out that candidate so and so was a puppy kicker, would that change your mind on voting for them?

Clearly not a poll.

I pretty much think that only a certain type of person answers polls, so they aren't a good cross section of the voting public.

I get texts about political crap from time to time. I assume I get them due to being a registered voter. I ignore them all. I don't need/want those folks to have any more info about me than they already have, certainly not that I'd provide it voluntarily!

And if it's remotely like what Rutager posted above, it's not a poll, but is meant to influence. I definitely don't want to provide a direct outlet for dirt dissemination by politicians or their lackies or supporters.

Vote for puppy kicker!!!

I’m probably getting 3-5 political texts per week. No idea how many calls because I don’t answer unknown numbers. Can’t even watch a car video on YouTube without seeing the stupid ads.

Sure! I'm retired. What the heck else am I gonna do?
I remember one when I was asked if I was planning to support the current Prime Minister and my response was to the effect that he had his head so far up his own arse he couldn't see daylight.
The call ended shortly thereafter.

I'm in Oregon. Don't get polls...even the pollsters know it's useless in a mail only ballot state.

Never.

That includes any survey, pole, spam, etc. I don’t say anything, hang up and block the number.

I dont answer calls that arent in my contact list, and any text i get from a non-contact i delete and report as spam. Fairly sure that the last bit doesnt do anything but I have hope...

Also give each company i do business with a unique email, when things get too spammy I know who to redirect the mail to

No, I don't respond. I flag it as junk.

What does it matter? They aren't going to do what I want anyway.

Nope... Never.

Why would you let a stranger know your political preferences?

Polls are not some college students out in front of the grocery store with a clip board anymore. They mine information and try to contact folks they already know their answers to make it their poll theirs.......

One of my MBA classes was about surveys and polling, and a lot of it was focused on how you can structure questions to avoid leading the witness and also get a true cross section of the population that you wish to survey. Both of which are very difficult things, and that’s before you interject political bias (both ways) into the mix. I think most public polls are designed to reflect a certain outcome from the onset, more to manipulate and coerce than actually understanding the mindset of the populace.

Case in point here, I’d guess the majority of Pelicans vote but currently 89% of responses say they don’t respond to political polls. 11% of the population probably isn’t very representative of the entire country.
