GM Duramax news

So GM has announced they will come out with a 8.3 liter Duramax diesel . GM and Ford in diesel wars , while diesel is creeping up near 7 bucks a gallon . Anyways I wish them luck getting transmissions and transfer cases and rear axles to handle the torque this beast will put out .

It seems like Allison should have the transmission answer if people bring cubic feet of money.

Unfortunately since 2020 ( I think ) GM no longer uses Allison transmissions . GM designed their own transmission , had Allison review it and voila a transmission . But GM knows the Allison name is trusted so they pay Allison $$$ to be " allowed " to continue to put Allison badging on the trucks . Personally I think that is shady .

I don’t think the average consumer would like the operating costs of a semi, or the total lack of real creature comforts. 15 gallon oil changes aren’t cheap. I used to be a diesel mechanic, it was an interesting job.
