I've never gotten one to separate like that, but I've managed just about every other possibility. My favorite was a motorcycle I was rebuilding a few years ago. Side-by-side two cylinder, had been sitting for 17 years. Water had been sitting in the plug holes for long enough to rust away the hex heads. All I had was ceramic to the cylinder head. Solution? New cylinder head....

I did that on my 1998 Mercury Mountaineer when I decided to change the plugs at 100K the plug on drivers side nearest the firewall....

I have forgotten which cylinder # that is... but after easily changing 7 plugs.. the last one came aprt just like the pic..

Glad I have access to lifts and a shop..

used an easy-out.. and there was much joy..

I can smell that from here...

LOL! I have one exactly like that sitting on my workbench. Last plug on a 93 XJ I6 nearest the firewall. Lots of banging with a punch, knuckle skin, easy out, and prayers and it came out. I don't know why I can't make myself throw it away...
