I saw that crash on the news. I hope that car driver is FIRED, and kept from ever driving near the competitors again.

This switch, when fully populated, could trade straight across for a new GT2

I thought 8GB SFP's were the fastest out there right now. I know the Brocade's have that as their highest speed ports, and IBM is finally putting 8GB ports in their storage and SVC equipment.

Are you working with hp storage? If so, I'm pretty surprised they're at 10GB, given how late to the game they are in terms of enterprise storage...

Since this is an HP data center, it's all HP Storage, ProCurve and H3C networking.

The 10Gb SFPs are for the network.

I don't know if 3Par has 10Gb (or higher) storage b/w, but I think we'll be going down the 3Par path in the near future.

This is what I do for a living!

So, the 10G are for iSCSI, the 8G is for Fiber Channel. Both are used in a similar manner with slightly different use cases.

We actually have 16G FC now being certified in our labs. (I worked for EMC for a while, and then a small company called Compellent, which was recently acquired by a giant company called Dell.

Made me sad to see all of that HP storage......
