I bought an arc welder (stick) more than 20 years ago and I taught myself. Made in Italy and from memory it cost me about $120. It's paid for itself many time s over. The one thing that improved my welding more than anything else was the purchase of an auto dimming welding mask. Just start your weld and the thing dims as soon as there's and arc. You can see were the material is going and adjust as needed. It lets you focus on the welding rather than worry about getting welding flash and it frees up your left hand. |

This is me driving my 914.
There is no PhotoShop in this! This is a scan of the original transparency, 100% reality. This is from about 1979 or 1980. The original rear springs on my 914 were getting weak but the Bilstein shocks were still quite stiff. There was a small dip in the road there and as the rear end hit the dip gravity would compress the suspension but the shocks would not allow them to return fast enough. I got a buddy of mine to sit in the front yard of a house and I made several passes. This was the best shot. I installed new springs after I got the photo and the same dip would not get me airborne anymore. I have had a 16x20 print of that on my office wall for 30 years. For the photography geeks. That was shot with a Topcon camera that I still own. I scanned it here at work at 4,000 DPI because I will likely make a new print of it. I left the frame information on there just to show it was not a digital photo. I personally processed that roll of film. http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1314374621.jpg |
