My deceased buddy David had a '60 Sprite. We once went from Sacramento to Alturas, California on a single tank. Not by choice...we were really nervous until we spotted the Shell station upon entering Alturas. The seven gallon tank took 6.7 gallons. I did the math...over 48 mpg.

I've always had a fondness for Bugeye Sprites.
