Platform shoes Humphrey Bogart wore in Casablanca.....so he wouldn't be shorter than the female co-stars.

You do it was JUST A MOVIE and not a documentary right?

Because Casablanca the film wasn't based on Casablanca the city. And it wasn't filmed in Morocco, but in a Hollywood studio 6,000 miles away. So Rick's Cafe - despite its enormous grand piano, roulette table and potent mojitos - is to Casablanca what Planet Hollywood is to California - a big, embellished fantasy.

In 1984 I was on the USS Texas and as part of our move from VA to CA we stopped in Cassablanca and what did I find on the water front just down from where our ship's boats pulled in........Rick's Café. So we all checked it out and it was a true sailor's dive!

That's about $800+ labor worth of hose, breakaway, fittings and pump nozzle. Most stations have cameras for morons that take off with their stuff.

I did that once. Fueling up early in the morning on my way out to Road America. Guy running the station didn't seem to care. I offered to call the police (actually there was a cop there buying coffee) to get a report. Guy running the gas station (Indian Fella' - Citgo/711) said it happens almost weekly, NBD. The cop snickered at me and shook his head. I felt like an *******.
