Good news considering its a huge waste of money.

$19 billion a year so some a-hat can say yippee, look at us! Bah.

Fund it with your own money if you want, but stop being so generous with mine. And keep PARF stuff in PARF.

The TV and film industry has not been know for the original ideas.

I also love the recent Star Trek/Star Wars movies but lets be honest they are just retreads.

Somewhat ironic the "zombie apocalypse" has become a cultural icon (is that an American thing or international?)

But thank gaud we will always have vampire movies!

I imagine that fuel cost was a factor over packaging concerns on that project. Or perhaps an aircraft which spends a lot of time in the transitional speeds between subsonic and supersonic speeds.

On boats and hovercraft there is "getting over the hump (hump speed)" transition from displacement mode to planing or hover mode. It would be of interest to me to find out if there is a similar Whitcomb Rule/Area Rule for these types of watercraft. Thinking perhaps narrow bow and wide stern so the front pops up with the rear to follow. Triangular not rectangular footprint.

Forty years ago (March 7, 1971), a prototype of a new class of aircraft, so odd-shaped that John McPhee of The New Yorker dubbed it the "Deltoid Pumpkin Seed" (see image below) completed its one and only successful test flight at the FAA Test Center in New Jersey. The craft was an early attempt at a hybrid airship that would rely on both an aerodynamic shape and internal helium to lift heavy cargo loads at low cost, and into remote areas where large cargo planes could not land.

Achieving flight through aerodynamic lift alone, the 26 was not a hybrid; rather it was used to test the aerodynamic qualities of the aerobody.

Yup Myanmar and Liberia are two countries we really want to be compared to!

Also, everything in Engineering in this country is done in Metric, it’s pretty much just stuff sold to the public that’s still referred to in Imperial. Try find an Imperial fastener on any modern Domestic automobile, nope, not there unless it’s some weird legacy part. Cars are completely designed in Metric, with the exception of wheel size. We even use metric for rolling radius on tires. Of course Lockheed Martin really screwed the pooch when they received a contract from NASA (you know, an official Government agency) specifying that everything needs to me Metric, but they went ahead and provided information in Imperial units causing the very public embarrassment of crashing the Mars lander.

There’s even a push to allow voluntary labeling of packaging in metric only.

The UK seems to do OK with everything in Metric except speed in mph, why can’t we go that way too?

But as I say, why let redneck rhetoric get in the way of truth?

Also while we’re at it, what the hell is with the ass backwards system of dates here that go Month, Day, Year? The rest of the world and the US Government use the far more sensible increase system of Day, Month, Year. Stills screws my head in when I’m asked for my date of birth, I have to say it in full using April not ‘4’ otherwise I get it wrong and I’ve lived here for coming on 23 years now.

.

Right back atcha with the BS call. Are you the pot or the kettle?

Everything in engineering is NOT metric in this country.
Some is, quite a bit is not!
Almost NONE of what i work with as an engineer is metric.
Some US industries are like that. .

Cool story bro, but there are no metric fasteners on my airplane or my helicopter.
Yeah, I know... those are just consumer goods and don't count.
