On two different occasions I had to take my dog to the vet for foxtail removal, one ear and one nose.

I hear they can wedge between the toes and cause infection too.

One of my dogs had one dug in the day inner corner is his eye and it looked so bad I was certain he was going to lose the eye. The vet removed it and a day later it looked 100% normal. I was astonished and so happy.

No, those are not expensive. Here you get them at every corner.
I dont like them, they are high maintenance.

As for the beautiful "chair" ;) in the pic, I have never undestood how one can sit directly on them. That is hard and hurts.

When I was a kid, the same thing happened to a cat we had, but she did lose the eye. One of our dogs got one in his nose, it got badly infected, and he had to be put down.
