Just curious, do you happen to know the approximate price of that thing? I don't want to buy one, but I am always amazed at pieces of engineering and manufacturing like that.

I've never had to buy one, the last place I worked had pratt and Whitney gas turbines. they were around $1.4 mil each factory-refurbished.

But to throw out a WAG, I'd say around $4 mil for bare engine depending on options and specs.
The installation labor and auxiliary equipment are where the $$$$$ really pile up.
If i were to budget a combined cycle facility from scratch with engines, generators, waste heat boilers etc. it could easily his $200 mil.

Pretty sure those are Solar (tm) gas turbines, prolly titan 250s.

These things are basically jet engines that have been redesigned for stationary industrial use they sell a lot of them which helps keep the cost down.

I used to haul Pratt and Whitney jet engines many years ago. The price use to be printed on the GBL (government bill of lading) but i can't now remember the price. They were up there. They would back two of these on the trailer.

That room looks like the old "Wheel of Fortune" prize room, where the players had to use their winnings to purchase the items and so long as there was an object which they could afford, had to buy it. (with any remaining balance being converted into a Service Merchandise gift certificate).

They start at approx US$30MM and (depending on configuration can get to US$65). Great stable, long lasting units. Lots of technology transfer between Mitsu, Alstom, Siemens, ... mostly buyouts.

I think that there are more Frame 5s than 9's out there.
