Have no idea what bit me but after a few days I couldn't stand it and went to the doc. since I posted that picture a little while ago it's got so bad I had to find a crutch to help me walk. and every now and then I get this pain that feels like I'm being burnt with a redhot piece of steel First time in my life I've ever been bitten by a spider.. and I live in bug/snake/alligator/mosquitoville, USA

What did doc do/advise?

Doc said no need to amputate, it'll fall off in a week all by itself ;)

get it checked. THIS IS WHAT THEY DID WITH MINE:

Take a felt tip pen and draw a circle around the outer edge of the inflamed tissue, mark the time and date. This will give them an idea of how fast it is spreading and the resulting tissue damage. IV Antibiotics was administered to me, as well as the damaged area being cut away. This was in 1994 and I am dealing with it to this day...the tissue in that area never heals completely.

gave me a teatnus shot, some anitbiotics and some kind of cream. said I had a staph infection also. whoo boy.. this is going to be fun for the next week or so. worse thing is I can't drink anything to dull the pain.

I don't know, I'd go back to the doc tomorrow morning. They don't assume the worst when they first see the bite, I'm sure, and treat it in a general way. Not worth effing around with.

it really didn't start hurting until Fri. or maybe the 2 cuts to the bone by my grinder on the other side of my ankle was canceling out the pain of the bite.

John, my wife is a WOCN wound nurse and sees these all the time. They usually give antibiotics and then a few rounds in the hyperbaric chamber to "supersaturate" the area with oxygen. Get yourself taken care of son! (If no one will fix you up down there, just hop on I49 for a quick trip north.

a little spider bite is nothing. when you walk into an emergency room and the doc tells you the cut on your leg is the second worst injury he's ever seen. flips out when I told him I cut myself yesterday.. practically severed my leg and arm off under a lawnmower. sliced, diced, smashed, burnt, etc etc.. and have the scars to prove it. I'm not about to let a little spider bite get me down. been iceing it down for while. can barely feel it now. although that might be my self-medicating. I'll get it looked at tomorrow. thanks for the advice and concern
