It looks like there are metal hatches to cover the windows when driving.

Windows can be covered with combination of metal panels and blinds when not in use - for security reasons. Just the thing for the third world.

If you look closely you'll see the truck is engineered for security.

This is the sort of rig a wealthy German might buy for a road trip through Africa.

Forget that fancy thing, if I'm going to third world, its in one of these! It worked in damnation alley, it'll work in Africa.
