Honest...Free Credit report

This was posted on my one of my favorite sites:

http://www.slickdeals.net

It's a cheapskate's deal web site.

By following this link:

http://www.yourcreditcounts.com/cred/yccc_quiz.jsp

You can get a free credit report. You have to answer a three question "quiz" and then click the link to enter their contest (you can opt out for future e-mail deals). After that you just enter your personal info to get your free credit report. I don't know how long this will be active, but it sure beats paying $10-15 to see it.

Sure. I'm gonna type in my SS number on a site I don't know. Uh huh.

You first.

I ran reports for me and my wife. The site where you enter your info is an Equifax site. Believe me, I verified all that before doing this.

Sort of like "DISH TV" small print: Social security and valid credit account numbers required.

In the wrong hands, a license to steal.

That's if you have to PAY for the report. No credit card number is required for the free report. I'm hoping this deal expires soon. I didn't expect so much skepticism. You'd think I was trying to sell a Porsche on eBay or something!

Anything that could potentially impact my current or future ability to own/purchase Porsche's would be met with much more skepticism than the actual purchase.

Thanks for thinking os us all though...

You want a free credit report??

Its easy: Call on of the three credit reporting services....Trans Union, Equifax or Experian.

The recording will say something like "if you have been denied credit within the last sixty days, you are entitled to a free credit report"

Just punch that #, give them your info over the phone and a few days later a free credit report will arive in the mail.

No need for a credit report here...everything I have is paid for, lots of people keep offering credit, but I just don't see a need. Yeah, I have credit cards...and all are paid in full every moon. Today's credit card interest rates? Legal usuary... but hey, it's your choice...

Lee,

thanks for both links....very interesting. I did use the equifax site, no cost whatsoever, and totally legitimate. No big deal, really, but interesting to see how that stuff works.

thanks again and regards,

I always wondered why Hawaii uses the person's social security number as their drivers licence. In this day and age it seems like too much information.

sounds quasi-legal to me as your SSN is not supposed to be used for information purposes (except for federal matters) but then again, a CDL requires an SSN, but it's not actually placed on the license
