We Got Him!

I hate to bring politics to the board, but I had to congratulate our fine young men and women in our military for the capture of Saddam Hussein. Regardless of what one thinks of the war, you must admit this is a great day for humanity.

Good news for the world, indeed. Happy holidays!

great News!

widebody911 12-14-2003 09:40 AM

Ok, so now what?

Scooter 12-14-2003 09:51 AM

Legitimate question Thom. We can just all hope for peace in the future. But for now, it is a great day in the fight against evil.

Refreshing posts by all above. Good news indeed! :D

"Iraqi information minister....."

His spirit lives on -- Soddom claimed (at capture apparently) that he was "a just but firm ruler"

I vote for fixing up that chamber of horrors "last place" prison he had and keeping him there.

BTW, I don't know of anyone who has "downplayed" his crimes. Many have questioned if we should not have waited for UN votes, a real coalition, etc. just as others have said Bush I was wrong to not smack Soddom in Gulf War I.

Now, we should all bet on how long before this very off-topic thread is moved....

Or, we can discuss the number of Porsches purchased by Soddom's family...

masraum 12-14-2003 10:47 AM

The Iraqi's want him and want to try him there. He should be begging us to take him, I wouldn't want to be him if they get to punish him.

island911 12-14-2003 10:48 AM

Now, we should all bet on how long before . . the anti-Bush crowd figures out how this capture was really a bad-thing, and all GW's fault.

My bet is, by the end of the day (on both bets;) )

Sonic dB 12-14-2003 10:51 AM

Can you imagine the rush that the first soldiers must have felt when they got to him?

They will be telling stories in bars and to their grandchildren for the rest of their lives.

I'll try not to take that personally. ;)

Yes, it is great news!!!! My biggest hope is that it will mean that we can concentrate more on the bigger target. Bin Laden

Leland Pate 12-14-2003 11:44 AM

Sadam was a b*itch... I'm with Tyson... we need to be going after Bin Laden harder and faster.

I'm listening to Holst's "The god of war while reading CNN.... Oh man am I ready to go now!!!

Git him git him!

Aurel 12-14-2003 12:15 PM

I hope Saddam will tell where his son`s Porsche are hidden, so they can be saved before falling in unexperienced hands

OK, now that is funny. :D :D

And I'm not so sure that the Bush administration's non-supporters, (where are they now, round 'em up), ;) , have any need to make this a bad thing. Saddam is a bad dictator, hell, he used to be our bad dictator of Iraq, but lying to start a war that kills a ton of Iraqis might not have been everyone's best idea for a solution to him. Your opinion may vary, obviously.

I've never heard anyone in my life defend Saddam Hussein, (of course I wasn't around Donald Rumsfeld back in the '80s), ;) , for the 10,000th time: anti-war does not equal Saddam pal.

Under the present circumstances I am very glad to hear this news, anything that might reduce the killing of our military personell and cooperative Iraqis and foreigners over there is obviously good news. And of course it helps the Bush administration, they've been looking inept for quite some time in terms of lack of planning for this conflict.

The right wing idiots on talk radio must be shooting heroin and giving Lewinskis to each other about now. :D

beepbeep 12-14-2003 12:51 PM

Congratulations. It will hopefully decrease attacks in Iraq and act demoralizing. Unfortunately, it doesn't seem like he was the one coordinating those...being dug out of the cellar and all.
