Ford GT
Just saw the GT commercial on the Super Bowl. What a beautiful freaking car! Thats how a sports car should look.
Id rather own/drive a Carrera GT, but the Ford GT just looks a little bit ballsier and more masculine. http://www.fordvehicles.com/fordgt/images/gt_img_r.jpg |
I like the car. I hope to see it at the Philadelphia car show this week.
|
Well, I trust the word of evo Magazine more than anyone, and their favorite top line exotic is the Porsche Carrera GT. The Ford GT MIGHT crack the top 10, after the Enzo, the Mercedes-McLaren SLR, etc
|
Notice that I didnt say that the Ford was the better car, it just looks better imo. :)
|
Bored out Mustang engine inside it, right?
|

I think its great looking as well. Jackie Stewart ran a few demo laps prior to the USGP last year, and it makes some fairly nice noises as well, despite the supercharger whine. Tim |
No, not a Mustang engine. It's a 5.4 liter super charged V8. That's the engine Ford uses in it's trucks/SUVs, like the Expedition for example.
EDIT: 500-ish ponies:eek: |
Cool. Thanks, Grind.

1) I am required to hate Ford due to the fact that I have family that works for GM.
2) I would rather have the Ford than a CGT. 3) For me, this is the first new car to inspire absolute lust since the 993TT. |
For me, it'd be close with the CGT, but I think I'd take the CGT...at this moment...talk to me in about five minutes or after I look in a car magazine, and I may switch allegiance.
|
i love this car.
all the euro car snobs can stick the GT in their pipe and smoke it. (or will it be the GT that smokes them? :)) cheaper, more powerful by almost 100 hp, and in my opinion better looking than a comperable ferrari. AND they do it with the block from a truck god bless the usa |
U mean a truck motor will smoke a Ferrari? Oh don't anyone mention that to any Ferrari owners...they might get upset....and Gawd forbid not be able to get it up....especially after they see a bill from the garage for an oil change.
Ford just has a habit of beating Ferrari at their own game.... |
If I were in the position to buy a high end car...(which I am not) I wouldnt be buying a new Porsche. The Ford GT looks pretty good to me.
|
Love the Ford as well. Can't wait to get one in about 4-5 years used :D
|
"Compare it instead to the comparably priced 360 Modena, which is its intended target."
Okay, fair enough. It's competition will be the Ferrari 360, the Lamborghini Gallardo, the Porsche 996 Turbo, and the Aston-Martin DB9. Throw in the top-end Dodge Viper, Acura NSX, and Maserati just for good measure. Of all those, I would take the Porsche, Ferrari, and Lamborghini over the FGT. It is a great-looking car, though. |
Jeremy Clarkson (of Top Gear) -- who rarely has a kind word for American cars -- raved about the GT40; and he's driven the CGT (and the Zonda, and the Muceilago (sp?) and the Gallardo, and...). With a little looking you can find the relevant Top Gear episode online.
I saw a GT40 last year at the NYIAS and it looks incredibly badass in person. I'd grab one in a heartbeat. JP |
I'll let you know about the Gallardo soon....apparently it's head and shoulders above the 360. We'll see.
|
Jeremy Clarkson really hates 911s, though, so I am not sure I trust his word... then again, one of his favorite car series is the Porsche 944... maybe he's onto something after all ;)
|
Hey CJ I was just about to call U a Porsche SNOB..but you beat me to it...U called yourself one...Well theres an honest man for ya.
Don't underestimate the Ford...Ford has a great racing pedigree especially with the GT40, which this GT is a copy of. ANd it will be cheaper to keep than ANY of the above mentioned cars except the viper of course. |
I can say after seeing the Vipers at Willow, those cars are monsters. If this car can hold off a Viper, well what more needs to be said.
I love horsepower wars! ...as long as I don't spend the money for that horsepower. :) |
