Melrose Larry Green???

I was on the subway here in DC today and this crazy man was on my car. He had cornered this poor Native American in DC for some convention and was leading him through the subway system. This guy was loud and obnoxious and began telling everyone he was running for mayor of L.A. and he knew the Bushes, and Clinton should be in jail.

He was a general nuisance, and I found it difficult not to watch him interact with the passengers on the train. "Hey Ladies!"

He gave this one woman his card and I looked over her shoulder "Melrose Larry Green" he then said he was on the Stern show.

I had heard "of him" but never heard a segment he was on (don't listen to Stern). Was is this guy's deal? Is he playing with a full deck? Are all cylinders firing?

Just curious...

A google search turns up a variety of interesting results ...

I'd say he hasn't quite earned a padded cell at your local area hospital, but he's definitely a little out there. Looks like he's so far right he's forgotten to do a sanity check. <sigh> Makes all the rest of us right wingers look a little silly.

He is a nutjob that is frequently on Melrose Ave. in L.A. waving and yelling at passing cars. He sometimes shows up on the street where I have my coffee, (a little village/walk street in my neighborhood), bothering people. He is very loud and obnoxious, getting into arguments w/ people, etc. I can't stand people who are loudmouths in public, regardless of political stripe, I consider him a bully because older people or passive people are afraid to confront him on his rudeness.

I've had my fun with him, like telling him in front of a crowd, "if you leave right now, I promise that we will all vote for you." ;) He engaged me once, I tore him a new piehole (verbally) pretty quickly, and he retorted something along the lines of, "you have a problem w/ Jews" (??) or some such garbage. I then realised that this was not a wise course, (arguing w/ him).

The last time that I saw him on my little street was during the "Arnold the groper" shenanigans, he was carrying an "Arnold for Governor" sandwich sign and got into it w/ some guy eating at an outdoor cafe w/ his wife and small son, he (Larry) started threatning the guy and challenging him to "take a walk down the street". It was difused, I was actually speechless for a moment at the audacity of it, but if I ever see him do that again it's gonna be *boom-boom, out goes the lights*. :)

Just want to clarify; I'm a big 1st Amendment fan, we have all kinds of nut cases here, right/left-wing, raised-by-wolves/martians, etc.........

But M.L.G. is a bully, bullys get their asses kicked. :)

Wow. He was pretty tame by comparison yesterday. He was holding some kind of folded up sign and the baby blue workout suit really made the fashion statement "I'm a lunatic."

That poor guy from South Dakota will probably never come to a big city again!!

It occurs to me, going back to the original question, that this isn't so much a presidential distraction as it is something that the people magnified. I mean, the prez is doing all sorts of interesting things, most of which aren't really getting any attention. As another poster discussed (PettyBird, I think?), there are a host of other things going on in the world, most of which are more important than this. My point is that the prez, while he is doing something about this issue, is also doing those other things. The press, who shows us what they feel is important, is magnifying this. The people (spoken: unwashed masses) love this sort of thing because it's so divisive. Nobody wants to read about reopening talks with Libya (except the small minority of the population who thinks for themselves). Libya isn't entertainment, it doesn't start fights, you will never see a Jerry Springer episode on Libyans who reopened talks. So instead of useful news, we get entertaining news, because the press has learned that that's what the people want.

But then, it's 6am, and I haven't had my coffee yet, so I could be way out in left field. Any thoughts on this? PettyBird, I hope I didn't take your post out of context.
