Why can't they catch these scum?
 

So I read a Yahoo news release about another Paypal email scam....So what....seen one seen them all. Well, this one goes on to say that the thieving scum have <b>tricked RETAILERS into releasing lists of customers</b>, but without financial information. And what is sitting in my Yahoo email????????? Hmmm, that makes me feel good.

I'm so fed up with worms, trojan horses, viruses, phishing, dialers and all the rest of the malicious crap on the net. Thanks for allowing me to vent.

Its to the point that I respond to no email at all unless its from a non commercial entity or a reply. The links are bogus.

Personally, I think Paypal is full of BS. Let's see, the site is allegedly encrypted, but they were able to swipe my personal data but not my financial? Bite me.

I've bought stuff on ebay. I send cashier's checks. So far, so good...but I will NEVER send bank account info or credit card numbers on the net. I don't, nor will I ever, do "paypal"...Call me paranoid, but I just told Cindy I didn't like the idea of online banking either. Hackers do what hackers do. If they can get into the pentagon computers, I should consider my financial info safe if I put it on the net? Right...

Rick - The scams are driving me crazy, too. I can't believe these people get away with this crap. If our govt set aside a few million bux, we could catch up with the dozen or so individuals that account for 90% of the bad stuff going on out there. I don't understand why they don't do it. Amazing that if you try this stuff through the mail they will hunt you down and put you in jail, but the internet, for some reason, is anything-goes.

I've been doing online banking, online purchasing and Paypal for 10 years now. And a lot of it. I've never been hacked. Even if I am, liability is minimal. I don't see what the big risk is. Worst case, you'll need to cancel a card and get a new replacement.

Exactly! Whenever I register for Email (yahoo/hotmail) I use fictitious info, including my name. The only time I use my name is for an order of merchandise....and I woun't purchase an item unless the site published a privacy policy statin that they don't share any info. OK, so howcome I get spam with my last name on it? Either my info was hacked as shown above or the online vendors are full of $hit.

Good point. On the other hand how much info of yours is available on the net that YOU didn't put there?

My experience is similar. Long time user, try to be careful and sensitive to any sign of intrusion. However, you're more exposed than you think. Especially if you have a Paypal account and ever had a checking account related to that account. They can and will pull funds out if they feel you've wronged another Ebayer.
