My 9 yo Daughter actually took this picture a few days ago - it's my Mom's adopted, older dog named "Ginger". I thought it was a rather good photo!

Ha!! taught my 8 y.o. grandson how to waterski this year....
http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1220677129.jpg

First thing he said getting off the plane... "I'm not going to waterski this summer grandpa"

Next day in the boat, I had a friend bring his son skiing with us, that's just a bit older. The boy was 10. My grandson says "I'm gonna learn when I'm 10 grandpa" I said, "that's good" as he watched the other boy intently skiing.

Then I told him how I taught his Auntie's to ski (my daughters) and that Erin waterskied when she was 5. I taught them all in the swimming pool with no boat, just Dad pulling on the rope.

He tried it on the shore.... I pulled him up a few times and ran down the beach with him hanging onto the rope until I said, "Lets hook this thing up to the boat and make a waterskier outa you!" He said casually, "O.K." My daughter couldn't believe it! Her son skiing!

During his visit he made the official full circle. Got up first try one day, skied around the lake in a circle and let go at the dock. Congrats to the boy; two years ahead of schedule. Ha, ha.

That's me about 20 yrs. ago. I could ski as well, but I had more fun on the knee board. Became quite well with it too. I wish I had some pix of my flips.

I have been on a wakeboard a couple of times and I remember getting right up. The knee board experience really helped ;).

It snowed in Los Angeles many years ago ('89-'90?)... The altitude of the pic is about 875 ft. above sea level.

Sometimes there are cool old cars in front of Brown's, last week was a black Cuda up front.

It hit the spot today.

When was the last time you went to a root beer Drive-Up stand?

Lots of cool automotive memorabilia inside the place.

Not my best work, but the Andromeda Galaxy, Messier object #31, with two other galaxies, Messier objects 32 and 110.

This was taken with a Canon Rebel XT with a Sigma 70-300 APO DG Macro zoom lens on a tripod. I took fifteen 1.3 second exposures and stacked them together. By stacking them the signal to noise ratio is increased which gives a better photo. It also allows for an exposure that's effectively longer without the heat/noise increase that's natural when a digital camera takes a long exposure photo. Also, without a tracking equatorial mount for the camera, a long exposure results in a blurred/streaked image because the earth is rotating. Rotation in a photo can be noticeable in shots well under a second. If you shoot at wide angles <50mm you can get away with shots 15-20 seconds long, maybe even as long as 30 seconds. At 300mm, the motion is pretty noticeable at 1.6seconds. Even in this photo, you can tell that my stars look like dashes instead of pinpoints as in the photo below.

http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1220907966.jpg
THe fuzzy elongated spot to the above right of the main galaxy is M110, and the round, fuzzy, brighter dot on the lower left edge is M32.

And for comparison's sake, here's the same thing, but taken with a telescope on a tracking mount that was able to take a long exposure.

I DIDN'T TAKE THIS ONE.

George,
Where is Brown's located?

On the way home from a clients this afternoon. Air quality was not as bad as it looks - I was playing with a sepia filter.

Brown's is on Pontiac trail in South Lyon, Michigan which is between Ann Arbor and West Bloomfield.

There is an A&W in Dexter, Michigan in which young women still come out to serve you via tray on side widow method.

There was a root beer place on Woodward in Royal Oak, Michigan where the women came out on roller skates. However the last time I was there was 15-20 years ago, I'm not sure they are still there.

I like Brown's root beer better than A&W's, it's not as sweet - just right and with a full foam head in a frost mug. The double bacon cheese burger was saltier than the fries, other than that it was very good. Next time I'll get a water and a larger root beer with it.

this is ridiculous

the little bastard is 5 months old
it's 11h45 at night
and he brings this in...

http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1221083229.jpg

That's a pigeon wing.. must ave gotten the poor thing while it was sleeping in a tree...

now Bubba "i kill things dead" , aka , the old cat, he kills things
and is good at it

but Boris "the Blade" sure is showing potential of massive proportions at very young age...
One of these days, he'll snuff a cow in a nearby field, and drag home a leg or something....this ain't no ordinary kitty...

I named him Boris the Blade when i got him 2 months ago.., and he's living up to that name...bigstyle
mixed feelings of pride, and down right worry about what else he'll drag home when he grows up... poodles, little children?? i better beef up my insurance

looks like bubba taught him well

I came home to a :
Big mouse (not a field mouse, but a research lab size mouse)
Chipmunk
Mole
Wings and feet of a goldfinch

Productive cat, he gathered my gifts in less than eight hours, but my bday isn't until tomorrow.

yeh, but he forgot to teach him "dead body etiquette 101"
eg, kill the bodies, play with the bodies, eat it or drop it off at the porch for presentation and praise"

not : "kill the bodies, drag em in house, horse around for an hour, then eat it"

the rest of the pigeon entered later during hte night
woke up middle of the night while Boris was plucking it clean, preparing to eat it (he's done it before with a fat mouse)
The frigging bird weighs as much then Boris does, this was no small pigeon
had to get out , and toss it in the cornfield...i don't like waking up with a room full of feathers and chickenbones

LOL!! My wife and I rented that same house 3 years ago. Chelan is the most incredible lake we love it over there. I will say this I do like the Manson area the best, great local wineries and the Blueberry farm breakfasts are to die for.
