Yes, I'd like to visit a dark site to do some more practice as well. I recently got a smallish scope. I'd like to get a T-ring adapter for my Canon. I wouldn't be able to shoot stars because I don't yet have a tracking mount, but I should be able to shoot the moon and or planets with it.

Another friend of mine gave me a "dog fancy" magazine last week telling me there is a good article about Neos in it. What do you know, Bentley is on the cover of it and he's got a full page spread on page 64... Funny how he manage to make himself famous!

How funny. I hear he's signed a 3 movie deal with merchandising rights and possibly a comic book.

Nope, wasn't stuck. Been 4 wheelin all my life, if it still moves, I'm getting it out.
that was close though, but I still had a 6" rock going on there and popped it out.
You should have an H1 buddy, incredible trucks, can't believe where it goes.
From your pics above, I can tell you'd love it.
Cheers,

Dave do you know a photography forum that isn't brand centric? I'd like to learn more about photography and not have to be in the church of Nikon or Canon :p

I have a Pentax istD and a small selection of lenses..

Why are the legs of the tripod wrapped in duct tape? looks like pipe insulation also

Tim, try www.dgrin.com . I joined up in January. It's a nice place. Doesn't matter what level you are or what camera you have.

The legs are wrapped for shoulder protection. When out in the field and moving around with a giant lens/camera attached, the tubes will make you sore in no time - imagine, leaving the legs extended, but folding them in and then carrying the whole thing like a pair of skis.

P.S. the foam/tape is only about two feet long.

Thanks for the link

Steve, did you do any post processing on that image? That's an interesting Ricoh P&S you used.

Yes, I processed it fairly heavily. I converted the RAW to a TIFF so I could run it through Capture NX with a large filter set I got from Nik (who makes Capture NX). That little Ricoh rocks with the 24-72mm equivalent zoom and RAW capability. Here's a couple others I tweaked from that same batch:
