It's an old pic. It started infront of the 2nd floor. It was the proverbial Xmas tree light fire. It immediately got onto the walls going up. The fire was only foreward and up so you could still make a fast aggressive attack on the second floor knocking the majority down. The attic was then where the action was. There was 3 of us up there for over 1/2hr. Small fire was continually going up from various places in the walls. While the 2nd floor walls were opened and hosed it pushed the small wall fires up. After our Scott Packs emptied one guy got out. We were then snorting the fog stream for air. We were laughing because my partner was younger than me and had no experience doing that sort of thing. It became against the rules to do that when Scott Packs were introduced. Some things you can't learn in school anymore.
I have been around since before the use of Scott Packs that started around '75.

Could this be an indication that I've been spending too much time working in the garage? ;)

This week one of the four B-17s still flying visited Van Nuys Airport in Southern California. When it touched down, its landing gear collapsed and the plane suffered serious damage as it scraped along the runway to a stop.
No one injured. No fire, but look at the props! I don't imagine finding spare parts for a B-17 is an easy task. However, they're going to fix it and put it back up in the sky.

Ronin -- you were a fire fighter? What a crazy job! At least ya'll get Scott Air. The Navy still believes that OBAs are a pretty good idea. Scott Packs are too expensive. I suspect they'll continue to be too expensive until we lose a boat to fire because the teams going in suffocated....

Ronin: Kim (my wife) and I absolutely LOVED Washington State! We stayed on Fidalgo Island and were awestruck by the beauty that was all around us. (Spent a week around Seattle as well) And the Orcas! How graceful they are despite their size!!
